They count, yeah. But being direct with who you're speaking on, to me, is that fearless approach. ? go the subliminal route.

To me, unless it's a super obvious subliminal, it doesn't count. Because the writer of the sub can always deny.

Nah I don't count it due to the fact that if u can't say who your dissin then its not considered a real diss track. For example when Common dissed Drake

    That was a real diss.

If both rappers are playing the subliminal game it can be tasteful nh and clever.

If one dude is throwing out names and the other comes back with subliminals its weak.

Its the smartest way to go far as business goes.

U want to diss somebody but you also dont want to alienate that person's fan base. A lot of people take it as a personal affront when their favorite artist is attacked and will stop ? wit the artist that dissed them. Look no further than the IC. ? be ready to ? over Jay vs. Nas lol

If you're an artist now-a-days it's best for you to drop a subliminal. You keep ALL your fans and dont have to worry about losing any you had on the opposing guy's side make more money.

It will likely go over casual fan's heads (i.e. Iggy Azelia white teeny bopper fans) and people who are in to listening to the lyrics (hiphop heads) will likely know who you're talking about after a few listens (i.e. CHECK YA OWN VIDEOS YOU'LL ALWAYS BE #2).

JayZ + MA$E probably shared a lot of fans at the time but he didnt name him outright so Jay didnt have to worry about losing any fans from dissing a then popular artist.

From a strictly hiphop perspective though? i dont respect that ? unless it's hella clever.

Im not a fan of em, but if it's cleverly done its cool. But if a ? makes an allout diss record about you , including your name , your kids name , etc , and you reply with a sublime? ? 's corny imo.

yes they count but also to me alot of songs you guys call subliminal, I dont. Like long kiss goodnight. Its pretty obvious who biggie is talking about so its not subliminal(coded) to me.

many times it a vague subliminal

first off I aint bumpin half these rappers to be researching

also man Im not talking commercial touch me and I'll sue rappers
that only bump on wax back and forth to each other
Im talkin some it's real in the field type rappers that would box it out
over being dissed, these rappers are not so quick to diss or be dissed.

Yea they count especially if they are obvious..... Dig a hole for example was a OBVIOUS diss at cam and we all know it but since he never said cam name in the song once that means it doesn't count??? If he said "throwing ROC signs out side of yo coupe cam" that would have made it count??? Cmon now

depends on the situation..... the way Biggie did it was ? (I am huge fan but it is what it is) Pac calling u ur wife ur whole team out and u subliminin it.... Now when Big and Nas went back and forth it was cool on the rap tip and u were tring to decode it same with Nas and Jay early on before their really blew up

Jay Z had the perfect line on Dear Summer,

"It's like when ? make subliminal records
If it ain't directed at me I don't respect it."

At the time there were 20 rappers all beefing with each other throwing subliminal back and forth.

best subliminal ever was Nas to Cameron on "Zone Out":

you got a House In Virgina
The only way you sicker than us
    Gettin' bagged with .22's now you's a ridiculous ?
No need for the gun play, it's ok, 'cause you dyin' anyway

I only like sublims if it's obvious those two rappers have a bad history with each other like Eiht and Quik or Jay and Nas. I don't like having to turn into a hip hop detective and be like

"It could be going out to so and so
But the way he said that because this other rapper going through ? maybe it could be going out to this ? "

Nawl I don't like the whole Drake style of doing it on some "I don't know why he using my style I never lent it out" ? . WHO ? ??!!

If you have already proven that you will call them out by name, then and only then have you earn the right to a few subs a few songs later. Otherwise it's just being a ? if you ask me.

You can't just be a talker in other words
    nobody respects that

the only problem is these rappers are role models
and unfortunately the public is to easily influenced

so I don't wan't the industry commercial rappers to try to
hold up to the underground street standard

whatever you are without the lime light be the same with it

Don't just hear kats talkin on the internet and do it cuz you think it's the thing to do
stay the same. don't see K.B. on the internet then try to be like him
K.B. been on that street sh*t when and when it's not considered trendy or cool at the time
Don't make it obvious you all up in ya panties
Right now there's no new raw lyricist
The new golden era is a overrated
K.B. & Lil Flea fit the mold of what top lyricist should be
like they was born to do this sh*t this shi*t comes natural to them
that's why the music is so authentic and down to earth
they are humble seem like good people and are due to shine

I know im just 1 person but all that other sh*t is bs right now
K.B. needs to come out retirement and make these albums
The industry needs to get behind them anything else is a disservice
    to Hip-Hop
