now the other day i found this site..
http://sites.google.com/site/ugmaudiomastering/
they do mastering for a cheap price, but when i asked them did i have to track any/each part out they said no, that had me a lil skeptical so i asked for a mastering sample for this song
http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_6317798
and here is the results..... http://hulkshare.com/3shgra52fk8p
the first half is wat i sent him, second half is the "mastered" results...
my question is, does it sound professionally mastered or even close...i ask u cause i have no idea(if i did ida mastered it myself lol)..

One mixing tip: is compressing vocals and adding a slight reverb to the whole song to give it continuity

reverb is a plug in that you use to make a sound have an echo. Thus giving an instrument a larger fuller sound. When you use a slight reverb on all the parts of the song together it make it sound more cohesive . -

what are you using pro tools, fl studio , reason etc. -

i was using adobe audition but for whatever reason i can get any playback
so now i jus got FLS9 off torrents,,tryna learn that
been goin thru the audacity settings because all that ? is in layman's terms,no knobs and numbers.
im pretty sure its all the same, jus different looks and names for things from program to program -
Tip
When recording vocals make sure the wave isn't peaking OVER -12dbs
always keep your vocals in between -18dbs and -12dbs
it sounds a little low, but your vocals will sound waaaaaay cleaner -

short cut keys
f5= playlist that's where you put your song together
f6=thats the sequencer , this is where i usually set up my drum patterns
f7= piano roll , I usually use this for like piano, flute, violin etc
f8= tons of options here , but this is where i use what instruments/samples i'm going to use
f9=mixing board , this is where the music happens where you add things like reverb, chorus,eq, all the mixing stuff
f10= core setting like midi , project info etc. -

just to add to this when you mix keep the volume low , don't have it to loud because you don't want to ? up your hearing or tired out your ears -
Tip 2
Don't mix ? , until you have the entire tracc recorded
and also when mixing go slowly... the last thing you want is to do something that you CAN'T undo -
MIxing and mastering tips for acid pro? Anybody?

what kind of mic do you use to record because having a good source sound is going to make your job easier. -
How I pan vocals:
Verse
my lead vocal is panned -10 to the left
I recorded to overdubs and pan one 40 to the right and the other one 40 to the left (gives my vocals a cerstain wide sound)
my rhyming words, I pan those 20 to the right
my adlibs are 20 to the left
Chorus
1 take right down the center
overdub to the left 50
overdub to the right 50
adlibs to 20 to the left -
one thing i learned about was this filter that goes around the mircophone . it perfect for untreated recording areas. It's makes any room into a recording booth. but it's pricey 169.00
-
oh yeah your vocals should be mono not stereo

found that out the hard way
was ?
went back up to guitar center like "AYO,THIS ? ONLY RECORD TO ONE SIDE" -
I mix my songs in Adobe Audition 3
as far as the effects on my vocals (eq, compression, delay, reverb)
I use Normalization (even though I probably shouldn't)
Hard Limiting
dynamic processing (I use the compander preset)
I 'center the wave' and maybe give it a 3db boost
then as far as EQ
I use a de-esser
then I use a hi-pass filter at 100hz
then I throw Nectar vst or Alloy vst on my vocals
theres a little bit more to it then that but these is the basic rundown of what I do
If you really wanna quicc lesson sign up on futureproducers.com and jus read.... you'll learn more than you've ever imagined -
