When is this going to change? Reagan and GW are no longer in office so why does this make sense in 2011?

    He didnt lie so much as he was naive.

    And its because they're making money keeping blacks in jail thats why.

    because in order to reduce the sentencing for these kind of offenses (or any offenses, really), you have to get around a couple of things:
    --Republicans being TOUGH ON CRIME
    --Democrats not letting Republicans be the only ones TOUGH ON CRIME

    there is probably no politician of consequence in the US willing to promote the concept of reducing penalties for any crimes

    nahh, the government loses money. for every ? in jail they gotta pay for food, guards, electricity, ect.
