For those who are wondering, the Edge retirement speech was 100% legitimate and real. We were told by a company source earlier this evening that when the major announcement was made tonight, it was not an angle and not storyline.
The story that Edge told about medical tests coming back and showing there was a new issue with his neck and being advised he must retire is true. He was basically handed a mic and told to go out and say goodbye however he wanted.
WWE's website posted an article on Edge's retirement, noting that Edge had suffering numbness and uncontrollable trembling in his arms and hands of late, symptoms of nueropraxia, a nervous system disorder. Edge was experiencing similar issues when he underwent neck fusion surgery several years ago.
According to the WWE website, Edge underwent an MRI last Monday.
After the MRI was examined by WWE's Medical Director Dr. Joseph Maroon, Edge was diagnosed with stenosis of the spine, which in layman's terms, means his spinal cord was narrowing from the abuse he's taken since returning to the ring from his 2003 neck fusion surgery.
With the damage to his spinal cord, continued abuse of the neck from bumping could result in series injury, including paralysis.
damn didnt know it was that serious, i know his contract ended next year and i thought that was when he would retire, but ? still sad, at least he left as a world champ

Im 27 and I shed a tear...man Edge was that dude...I love watching wrestlers come in and rise to the top of the company, I remember when he used to sit in the rafters n ? and when he'd come out the crowd....but that Brood ? was awesome, serious WWF Attitude ? , ? 's used to drink Blood on the ring steps....My man gave his life for the WWF/E..kinda tough seeing how he did Matt Hardy considering they were all cool n ? back in the day..but other than that he seemed like a cool dude, can totally see him coming back to do commentary cuz he's gold on the mic.
-
well he may not be able to compete in the ring, but i'm willing to be he'll be in the commentary booth.
-
edge was cool.....his career couldve ended alot worse compared to others...hes also lucky they found it in time so he wont be another droz....

Wow...Edge retired, crazy stuff. Even worse, it's because of a medical problem.
He was a genuine superstar. I hope he finds something else to do within the world of wrestling. Respect. -

he still seemed like a cool dude"

lol
lol
lol
personally i cant say much about him i liked his work and im happy i got to see him go from the bottom to the top.
one of the only times i can say one of my favorites rose in the company.
usually they jus get lost in the midcard shuffle and then endeavored -
he'll be in the wwe hall of fame one day no doubt in my mind
-
Sucks to see him go. One of the few wrestler the wwe actually treated well. One of the best to do tag team wrestling. Co-creater of tlc matches. Would have liked to see him do one last run with christian but it's okay. He will be missed.
-
son, i seriously almost got teary eyes...smh...
? wanted to bring up the hardy boys bad...i know he did...
shout out to the brood... -
damn mane, this is one of the wrasslers that i feel like i watched their entire career...
i remember bruh coming through the crowd vividly..that you think you know me ? ..classic..
the first tag team ladder match=classic..
even though i thought he was fallin off when he started lookin fat and sloppy, he still put on decent matches.
its good he ended it on a above avg match at wrestlemania..
tough it had to be over like this..
makes u wonder how much longer ? like cena and kurk angel have left..
