Our republic was designed to work with an EDUCATED population. BUt most Americans arent exactly the brightest in the bunch and either dont know or care what is going on. They dont know that their congresspersons are brought by corporations and they dont know how their government works let alone how to make it better.

^^^ that's one theory I've heard that I agree with.

I agree with that theory. I think if the government sucks it's the people's fault ultimately, not necessary the government.

Agree?

It's too big, too involved in our affairs, too involved in foreign affairs, and is over reaching its authority by FAR!

the Politicians only jobs is to maintain their job. They love the power, perks, money, and benefits that come with being a career politicians. How it is supposed to go, is people nominate a citizen to represent them, they go to congress for a few years, then they come home and continue living as citizen. The way it is now, the politicians dont have to live by the rules and regulations that create. They get tax paid pensions, lifetime health care, etc. Why would they ever make the tough choices? They are going to do whatever they have to do to keep their job, even if it means lying, or giving people temporary relief at the cost of long term sustainability.

IMO you should have to pay to vote. Not a lot, just like 5 or 10 bucks. But something, this would filter out the people that do not contribute to the economy and system.

Poor people contribute too. What's 5 dollars?

But if you just feeding off the system and not contributing, yes, your ? the system up. This is not to say all poor people. Ive been poor before, be we didn't just feed off the system for generations like some people I know. It the old saying, If you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always depend on Paul to vote for you.

I find it interesting how white conservative republicans constantly claim they are fighting for "Poor whites" (in order to enflame racial beefs in the poor community no doubt) but yet their policies are the direct reason why EVERYONE is poor, white, black ect..

Ok. Some ? made money. That's still doesnt mean this is a capitalist nation.

    Govt run mortage industry
    Govt run auto industry
    Govt run banking industry
    Govt school and colleges
    Govt run health care industry
    Govt regulated financial market
    Govt regulated tech market
    Govt regulated health care market
    Govt regulated labor market
    Govt regulated food industry

and so on and so on.

Nothing about this = Free Market Capitalism

It equals some horrible mutation of Capitalism/Socialism/Corporatism/Fascism

thats exactly what it means because the very definition of capitalism is "some ? make money while everybody else needs subsidies"

It equals some horrible mutation of Capitalism/Socialism/Corporatism/Fascism

In capitalism, everyone is able to make money, no one NEEDS subsidies.

I live in California - the capital of "cushy job, not getting anything done, and giving the people a middle finger".

If those people could get FIRED, it would be a good start. If I treated my job like some of those with a "government" position, I'd be out on my ass in a couple of weeks. If the average joe with a government job can do this, it says alot about our government leadership....

I think the problem would be solved with higher paying easier attainable jobs and better accessable job training sites and trade schools. Generational welfare doesnt work but niether do your economic policies maynge.

You havent experience my economic polices.

And you say "easier attainable jobs" but you dont realize a free market would provide that, also provide more opportunities for people to start their own businesses and not be burdened by so much red tape, taxes, and regulation. Also it's liberal policies that shun trade schools, community colleges, and tech schools. I am a fan of trade schools and alternative education rather than the same ol' go to govt run high school, graduate, go to a 4 year college, get a degree, get a masters, and spend the rest of your life paying back govt loans. We've build an economy where a regular joe can not survive, a service based economy where someone who is good at building stuff or not accustomed to sitting in an office all day doesn't have many options. We used to build stuff in this country, but govt has pushed jobs away. Most people blame manufacturing jobs leaving on unions...although they do play some part, its mostly govt interventionist polices and so called "Free trade agreements" that 10,000 pages long (thats not free trade). Im for the same thing your are for bro, I just believe it can be attained through less govt, and you believe through more.
