Good move!! Admin is an easy way in, and it's something every company needs out here. You can go for an Admin job that works in the Dinning Facility if you want, but other than that indians do all the cooking, and the Military runs the eating facilities over here so there aren't many contracting jobs in that aspect for US citizens.
hell no it aint lol i been tryna get in on the admin ? for a minute....but i've mostly been applying on kbr im gonna try the rest of the sites -
Damn I almost slepted on this:
Anyway, here is a site which has every company and country thats hiring internationally.
Job Bind
http://www.jobbind.com/country.html
Click on the country you maybe interested working in
Then type the position you wold like to apply for.
After that every company or companies that are hiring for that particular job will appaer
simple as that
Good luck! -
Yeah, KBR is a bit harder to get on with because they are the larges contract in Country, and thereby flooded with resumes from the people trying to get over here. So you may get hired quicker going for the other companies I posted.
KBR is good is a starting off "kit"
But in general (only 1st to LSI/EG&G) its the lowest on tolam poll depending on your job position.
And yeah...many times I'll explained that the average contractor doesn't have know more then a HS diploma . Also the misconception that you HAVE to have had
a mililtary background. Not true either....it doesnt help....but only to an extend.
The best way to get on with KBR if that your main goal to work for
is consistency.
Keep applying....matter a fact make it a habit to apply for every position you THINK you qualify for whether you have actual experince or not (youll just fit in with most folk there)
atleast twice a week -
Good thread Kimi, here are some more sites to check out:
www.rigzone.com
www.usajobs.gov
www.csakuwait.com
www.agilitylogistics.com
www.triplecanopy.com
www.dangerzonejobs.com
www.saic.com -
militaryhire.com
recruitmilitary.com
clearancejobs.com
matter fact I got a spreadsheet with every last company..I'll find it and post it later -

I just saw u posted LSI...I don't know their current standing but I had seen that they had lost their contract because of fraud. Some of these companies here would try to get away with murder if they could. It's a damn shame cause it makes all us contractors look bad. -

yeah I worked 15 months with LSI before switching to KBR
but you right....all them companies are getting over BIG time....we making chump change compare to them
its so much money and some many people with so many departments and "sub-departments" etc, etc,
and they making up ? to justify the ? ....LSI is the only that got caught...cuz KBR has Cheney to fan off the "flames"
still if you can't beat 'em join them...I say
get what we can get and be out or ride that bus til the wheels go flat -

I won't be taking resumes or anything but I can help point u in the right direction.
The first thing that people need to do (this includes all posters) is decide what it is you want to do as in what type of field or industry you want to work in.
2nd you need to know what conditions you are willing to accept along with the risks you wish to take.
3rd you have to be mentally prepared to even come out here because if you aren't then will be miserable and lonely.
Most of us veterans know what a deployment is like and not being able to see family and friends. You got kids then it will be worse. These are the things you will experience if you come out here and no one here is going to be concerned because everyone has their own issues.
With this being said I will answer most questions that I can based off any info I know myself. -

You may want to try these military veteran placement agencies that may have some job opportunities overseas
www.lucasgroup.com
www.bradleymorris.com
www.orioninternational.com -
Very good advice Southern, you said everything I was going to say..........
Doin what I can. I've seen a lot of people come and go out here and people either leave for a better position or leave because they can't handle it. I know there are a lot of people wanting to venture this way but don't know how or where to go. -

Those are good ones. Once you get an offer from them though you gotta accept it quick. -
Ok here's a list of companies. Just so you guys know. If you got a record you may or may not get a call if you apply. Also some jobs require a clearance. If your credit real jacked up or something then you may or may not get a job. Any job over here requires a 100% background check. Good luck!

Also. It would be very helpful if you already have a passport. That way you won't have to wait. Some companies will reimburse you for your passport and any other fees that involve you relocating.

Thanks Ladies, I've been contemplating about getting out, so this may help my decision..
Also I have a TS clearance already..so does that help the process? -
Wow @ this list, I'm going to copy this and e-mail it to other people trying to get over here, Thanks Southern!!:)airforcememphis wrote: »Thanks Ladies, I've been contemplating about getting out, so this may help my decision..

For KBR people, if your base pay is $4000, what will you make a month if you are in Iraq? Last time I was their it was almost $8000/$9000 a month. Is that still the case?
-
You should pull in around 11 or 12 with a 4k base pay. You know the uplift is 75% right? My base is 3800 and I bring in around 11k.
Appreciate it, yes, the recruiter just called me back and told me it's 75% uplift which comes to $130k a year. I leave next month for Houston, but first I have t pass the WABI test. Other than that, glad to be going back to the sandbox! -
I'm so glad you got picked up!! I knew it wouldn't take long. You're resume was one of the best I've ever seen, and coming from me that's a lot! I'm currently leaving KBR and going to another company, but congrats!! I'm so happy you got back on the project. Good luck with the Wabi, remember to give common sense answers and you will do fine:)
Thanks, it really didn't take that long! Granted that I pass the WABI I will be in Houston April 18th
Where are you going to now? Fluor, Dyncorp, Parsons? -

Thats whats up. I might be headed up north too. Weighing a whole lot of options right now tho. -
I got ask I don't have no military experience no trade skills, just a high school diploma and a about 30 something credits in college. What kind of jobs
could I get and what kind of work do you all do out there Kimi? If i qualify I would seriously think about going over there to get some kind of bread
stack for my future. I don't have no criminal history but my credit is shot a little so what kind of work would I apply for and what would be the field for
me since I don't have no military experience.
