Is the Wire really the best show on HBO of all-time?

I used to think the wire was the best show on HBO ever. Then I started watching other shows like the Sopranos, six feet under, oz, dream on Deadwood. An ddeadwood flew up to the top of my list. yhis show ? away. I now put Deadwood a little above The Wire and the Sopranos right under wire. I still wouldn't put any of these shows in myn top five, but DEadwood would be a little better than the wire. I know the wire gets all the hype on here, but the deadwood is just as good or better.

I love all of shows on HBO but The Sopranos>>>>The Wire.

I can watch The Sopranos over and over but I know I'll get tired of The Wire even through The Wire is classic show of all time.

HBO is the ? . Showtime was okay but I only like Dexter show on Showtime.

I just watched the wire again and to me Deadwood====The Wire

Season 2 and 5 of the wire were ok to bad.
I would put the Wire 2nd on HBO all-time list and around 8 on my all-time list with shows like the Farscape, Lost, The Sheild, Friday Night Lights and a couple of other shows a feel arer better.

I can't give the Wire greatest show props.

The Wire is a great show, but it's hard to say that is the best HBO show. I think all the HBO shows are of comparable quality and the "best" depends on personal preference.

Liked Rome more, but The Wire is definitely my number two. Deadwood then Sopranos after that. Biased, but I'm expecting Game of Thrones to move to the top of my list when the second season hits. Can't ignore Boardwalk Empire either.

All just as good or better. It really depends on a persons' taste. If you don't like history and/or sword fights, then Rome isn't for you. GOT is fantasy, which some don't care for. But, I've always loved the Sopranos.

As far as I'm concerned yes it is. But that's not a knock on any other series that's on or was on hbo. As many others are quality as well. But it's just that the wire set the bar so high, that it makes many other shows seem very contrived by comparison. But for what it's worth I enjoyed deadwood, oz, and I also like curb your enthusiasm, and boardwalk empire. And the sopranos was good. But around season 6 was when it started to get weak with those pointless dream sequences.

Yes. where he went into a coma. it was all fluff, pseudo-art house drivel with no true substance. and what was even worse was the focal point and the main storyline was then shifted to vito. i honestly felt like i didnt want to even finish the entire season. the faggotry was too overwhelming

yea i would put wire just over soprano's. those america undercover junts HBO used to do were classic aswell. The DC jail special, and the homeless heroin addicts in Seattle was great tv.

Never watched Deadwood but everybody that has says that its a good show.

The Wire to me is the best show that has ever been on television. Im not saying it because im biased but because no other show has been that accurate in its betrayal of not only the streets but the police and the politicians also. Alot of ppl didnt like saeson 2 but after you realize the importance of that season and watch over that season maybe the third best one after the fourth and the first.

season tewwww was as good as any. it exposed a whole nother side of the corruption and drug game and basically set the foundation for the rest of the series.

Most ? in the hood like the wire more because of the street aspect. You'll hear most say that season 2 was the worst, when in actuality it was one of the best, like some said earlier. The wire season 5 got too far gone with the fake serial killer ? . I mean, they went from being really reality-based, to some other ? .

Like I said, it really depends on your personal taste, because like with me, I'm not high on deadwood or entourage. Not saying they aren't good shows, just not my type. But, the way Game Of Thrones is shaping up, DAMN!!!! IF you can get past it being a fantasy show, then the story/plot are top-notch. Good acting, scenery, everything.

Also, if you like history-based shows, then you should definitely check out Rome. Lucious Vurenious and Titus Pullo played excellent roles. You know that Ceaser dies, but how they get there is a refreshing way to tell the story.

Also, Boardwalk Empire has me fiending for season 2.
