    No Order

    Jill Scott
    Sade
    Janelle Monae
    Vivian Green
    Amel Larrieux

I left Badu off it . Even tho she is great , After Baduizm her music as a whole wasnt on that level , even tho the last joint was pretty good,
As far as Lauren Hill , she is/was talented but as a solo artist I think she has a legendary piece of work but no so sure if she is a legendary artist

Well out of those i got to go with Jill. I love her sound , the soul in her voice , but also she can go big with her voice . She is versatile. And my feelings on the other 2 i stated

    More arrogance than talent.

(And yeah, I realize the unpopularity of what I just said)

Apparently you are unfamiliar with Lauryn's body of work.

    LMAO. You Right.

    Lauryn
    Badu
    Jill

I wanted to put Badu over Lauryn because of her body of work but L boogie had those bars. Erykah is over Jill Because Badu just kick that real and smooth ? . Compare Mama's Gun to New Amerykah pt 1.

    1. Erykah - bold and beautiful black sista, who can sing, write, rap and concert like no other. You can tell she's a perfectionsit from the quality of her albums. IMO New Amerykah pt.1 is her greatest and at the same time the most difficult work.
    2. Jill Scott
    3. Jaguar Wright - after 2nd album she disappeared. I wish she came back, because her 1st album ranks as one of the best neo-soul albums in my collection

Obviously I'm not comparing Lauryn's lyrical ability as a rapper because she is on another level, but as far as song writing and singing ability it is laughable to think Badu or Lauryn can compete with Jill.

    Thanks for clearing that up

...although Lauryn is not THAT far behind Jill in the songwriting dept, IMO

Lauryn Hill - She just where do I begin??? lol. Most of her music just spoke to me. Zion means the most because I was in a similar situation 2 years after I heard that song and I know I made the right decision. I saw Lauryn Hill in 99 and that was the best concert I've ever been to.

Ms Badu - loved Baduizm and she kinda lost me for a min after that. still had some singles I liked and most of the songs she featured in were good so I still check for her music.

Jill Scott - she's talented and all but I'm just not a fan of her music.

Erykah Badu on another level. Her last two albums weren't up to par as her first 3 but she still my favorite female singer.

    Jill Scott.

Is Jill high up on the list like that? I would put Ledisi before her.

    Maybe something like this (tentative):

    1. Lauryn
    2. Erykah
    3. Ledisi
    4. Jill

    1. Jill - she's got awesome vocals, her lyrics are dope and unpredictable, her stage presence is phenomenal.
    2. Lauryn - She's got what Jill has (although not sure about her stage presence) except she only has one album. I prefer the soul of Lauryn's voice over Jill. Ex-Factor still gives me chills.
    3. Erykah - She has the weakest voice of the bunch. Her music is great, but her latest works are not as timeless as her earlier work.

I'd like to add Corrine Baily Rae, she would come before Erykah.
