(also why ReDrum looks like an TR-808) Talk to any experienced musician over the age of 40 and I bet you they'll like Reason but hate FL because it "seems like a toy".
This too is true. FL's interface and ease-of-use can be toyish. I only wish I could get better piano keys, better kicks and snares, and some horns that aren't synthesized. I usually have to make/download my own.
I do seriously doubt that a FL user can consider himself a real musician/producer. However, this doesn't mean that Reason is G.O.A.T. For the best, and I mean BEST musical production, I always suggest an MPC, a computer and mic, and a soundboard. -

c/s, FL's always had weak stock drums, Reason actually has a solid collection of stock drums, I used build drum loops on ReDrum and export them into FL. And yeah, FL's still weak in the natural instrument department. FL Keys is like a kiddie piano and badly needs to be replaced. FL Slayer and Plucked! can be useful, but they're NOT realistic. If they included drum kits from someone like SonicSpecialists and added an "all-in-one" instrument similar to Hypersonic 2, it'd be a wrap.I do seriously doubt that a FL user can consider himself a real musician/producer.
mannnn that's like when Sarah Palin talks about "Real Americans" or when a Reason poster says a song he don't like "isn't Real Hip-Hop".For the best, and I mean BEST musical production, I always suggest an MPC, a computer and mic, and a soundboard.
No, no, no, for the best musicial production I always suggest a Commodore 64, a Sesame Street See n Say, a kazoo, a cowbell, and a Roland CR-78 drum machine.
Either that or an Akai MPC 10,000 - it has a button that automatically makes your beats hot! -

SMH...He don't get it...lol smh... -
furthermore double h, check out this most powerful thread in which i enlighten you on just how to ? that reason ? on the fl studio triznack: Tips & Tricks Thread (brought to you by Deacon Grundy)
damn my weed smokin self forgot all about this thread! thanks playa! -
yeah I got FL Studio 9 Producers edition the ? is a beast
I'm still going through all the functions and getting familiar but I love it
once I add more plugs and ? I'll be good. I was using a Wave Pad editor for my samples and I just save em ship into Fruity.
Still getting familiar with the reverb effects and tweaking the sounds but yeah it's good. The drum kits they give you arent' bad either but your gonna need some different 808's and kicks IMO. I just found out you lay your vocals down through FL Studio so it's really like a baby studio. -
I tried fl studio, and it sucked. The interface was weird, the sounds wasn't that good, and the sampling wasn't that good either

hahahaha this must be parody
Were you the cat I beat by 1 vote in the Team Beat Battle (Quincy Jones/Ennio Morricone) a few years ago? I remember you havin some heat. You v. Grundy would be dope.
I wonder what Calico's up to nowdays. Sheeeit, I should get in touch w/ Hala-X sometime......what ya'll know bout that.....old school Fresh Produce ? -
And for sampling, and true sampling, FL is a Godsend. For example, I can chop and cut a sample and be a makeshift DJ Paul, Kanye West, Puff Daddy ('95 BadBoy).
This was done with Fruity Loops, and it didn't take long at all. -

Diddy don't make beats, he makes suggestions, add little sound effects, and slaps his name on the credits a "co-producer". The Hitmen made all those 90s classics.....Chucky Thompson, Stevie J, D-Dot, Amen-Ra & others
and how ? can question FL's sample ability is beyond me....9th Wonder was pumpin out classics on FL version 3.....anybody who remembers version 3 knows how amazing that is.....no mixer, no native MP3 compatibility, no time-stretching, no audio clips, and stock drums that make the current FL stock drums sound like Dr. Dre's personal drum collection...... -
I need to get back on FL studio...
-
Even though ive moved on to reaktor, logic, and abbleton live, i still to this day go back and fool around with fl studio from time to time. i will always remember the easy to use interface and some the best pre-loaded drums around
-

it's all about the right plugins to suit your mixing needs bruh, depends on what sound problems you're trying to correct -

I did this with Fruity Loops in like... 45 minutes. -
i been tinkerin wit post production for a while now, but never seemed to find the right sound, that near mastered sound...of course as long as i been rappin, ? round da way will tell u the quality of the songs sound perfect, but when i let an actual dj hear it, dey always tell me bout mastering...
so i ask that the church of fl studio check out dis beat and tell me what it needs to get that mastered sound, ? tell me bout the vocals too. i aint lookin for an opinion on the actual song just yet, just da quality...

my homebody just came over the other day and loaded my packs up
I got all types of sounds and ? now. -
oh yeah how do I avoid having my bass distorted?
epecially certain basslines that I try to use just don't filter right
is this because I need to upgrade my speakers?
I haven't even burned anything to see how it sounds on a real system so I dunno
also how much RAM do I need to comfortably run FL without any problems -

I'll give you an example:
I run FL Studio 6,7 and 9 (I have some older projects that don't want to work properly in newer versions).
My current machine is old, a 3.4GHz Intel Pentium 4 HT (Prescott core, socket 478) with 2GB RAM, running WinXP SP3.
For me to render a project with, say, 12 tracks, of with 5 or 6 are using the Fruity SoundFont Player and the rest various VST's I have loaded, it takes probably 5 minutes for a 3min project to about 10min for longer projects.
Rendering is less a function of RAM, and more about how powerful your processor is. My machine would have been state-of-the-art in 2004. In 2010, it's a dinosaur but still gets the job done.
