Killer Elite Trailer Blasts In
Statham! Owen! De Niro! Punching!

What do you want when you sit down in the darkness for an action thriller? Are you expecting smack downs, car chases, explosions and lots of growling blokes trying to ? each other? If the answer to any of these things is a big ol’ yes, then you might be happy to watch this first trailer for Killer Elite.

The film, based loosely on a true story, finds a retired SAS officer (Jason Statham) forced back into action when his mentor (Robert De Niro) is kidnapped by a pack of nasty assassins led by the scowling Clive Owen.

Cue tons of trash talking, plenty of punches and even a little dash of Chuck star Yvonne Strahovski.

If we’re honest, this looks like a total ‘80s action throwback, though in a good way. The presence of the Scorpions’ Rock You Like A Hurricane just adds to the effect. But we have just one question: what was Clive Owen thinking with that ‘tache? It just makes people want to punch him all the more…

Killer Elite is out on September 23.

Movie looks like it could be good, Clive Owen looks weird with a mustache though.

Bonus points for having my girl Sara from Chuck in there as well.

This fall will be the last season, it has been confirmed. 13 more episodes for Chuck, I'm just glad it made it to season 5.

We’ve already had one fist-fuelled trailer for The Killer Elite and, if anything, this latest promo just confirms the idea that it essentially wants to be an ‘80s action movie when it grows up. You can watch the new footage over at the IMDB.

Well, we say “new” footage, but in reality a chunk has been recycled from that previous effort. And what hasn’t changed is the plot – Jason Statham is Danny Bryce, a former SAS operative and largely considered one of the toughest nuts around.

But when he and mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro) annoy the wrong people, Hunter is snatched and the villainous, stupidly-'tached Spike (Clive Owen) starts making threatening phone calls, growling about what will happen to the man who is “like a father” to Danny. So what does The Stath do? Why, he does what he does best – kicks mucho ? , fires guns and crashes cars.

Killer Elite is unabashedly OTT and features lots of actors snarling dialogue that Arnie and co would’ve been proud to spout back in the day. Oh, and there’s also the likes of Yvonne Strahovski, Dominic Purcell and former Lost man Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the cast.

Take a gander at the trailer if you want to be rocked like a hurricane. The movie is out on September 23.
