They can't because they don't want to come off selfish. The only people that would come into play for are the people that make enough money to benefit from those tax breaks and loopholes. They don't want to see the poor get any more of their money than they have to. We should have learned that the trickle down effect does not work...the only thing that rolls down the hill is ? .

Technically, raising taxes in a bad economy can hinder recovery, but not very much. Cutting spending, which is all they want to do, is much more destructive.

Even if they could mount a defense for not raising taxes, I seriously doubt anyone could give a good reason for not closing loopholes. Repbulicans are so stupid. They are always whining about class warfare and the rich paying more than their fair share when in fact that's BS because the rich people know how to avoid paying taxes.

Thats not true if you're only raising it on the top percentage of Americans that are making over 400k.

Statistics have shown that businesses have recovered and are making profits again yet their still not hiring.

The trickle down economics idea that the repubs are pushing is pure fantasy.

Tax cuts actually are a stimulative measure. It just so happens that they're the most inefficient way to stimulate the economy.

    The idea goes as follows....

    - You have a tax rate of 28%
    - You pay 22% in taxes after loopholes
    - Congress closes loopholes
    - You pay 25%
    - Congress has just raised taxes

    Don't shoot the messenger lol
