I was put on this earth to provide for my damn self.
I'm surprised by how much people still have that concept locked in their head - men and women. Yall still believe in this ? ? Speak on it.

Lol @ having a stay at home wife in this economy. There's no way I'm marrying someone who doesn't make ATLEAST 3 Quarters of my salary/wages per year.

Man is brought into this world to survive, by any means usually.

I don't think that men were put on this earth solely to be a provider, but I do believe that a man should want to provide for his wife and children. No man is obligated to provide for a woman just because she is giving up the cooch like your lady friend thinks. Some women have the concept twisted...

Agreed but in this day and age, where any job can be had by either a man/women, shouldn't they both be providers ?
Also why should a man be obligated to provide for his wife ? I can see his kids, but why a grown ass woman ?
On the same note, what would the woman's obligation be ? -
I believe in the traditonal American male/female relationship.

There's nothing wrong with both the man and woman bringing in money for the household, but I feel like a man should have that drive to go that extra mile to make sure his family is provided for regardless if his wife works or not. The woman's role is to support her husband, making sure the home is maintained, and to make sure that the children are taken care of. Now cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the kids isn't what women are solely meant to do in life, but she should want to do those things for her family. -
So question - for Charlie, Mikko, and taeboo -
Do y'all believe in alimony ? -

I think alimony should be given on a case by case basis. For example, if a couple was married for 10 years and he was the sole provider during the marriage then I think the man should pay alimony for a short time so the woman can get on her feet. Now if a couple was married for like 3 years and both people worked while they were married, then no alimony should be given... -
Damn to each his own but I'm kind of disappointed....
As a self-respecting person, I couldn't expect another person to be required to take care of me. Even if I got a divorce from Oprah, I would never accept alimony. It just ain't in me, I was raised to do for myself and not be dependent.
So I'm guessing y'all feel the same way even if it was the man trying to get alimony ? -
I provide for myself, and I would provide for my family. I can't explain why I would do it I just feel as if it's the right thing to do honestly.

If the man stayed at home while the woman worked during a long term marriage, then I would say yeah he should get alimony for a short period of time to get on his feet. -
I don't believe in alimony if no kids are involved.
So wouldn't that just be child support ? -
Lmao
You can try to force 40's/50's idealistic views on today's economy if you want
Me and mines will be laughing at your poor ? -
Hell yeah it's true.

If life was a video game would alimony be a cheat?

Na but it would be equivalent to buying a video game and returning the empty package - you still get to play the game but you got your money back.
