Appreciation Thread for da King of da Mixtapes
Ima start at da genesis wit da sqad up series. I was a sophomore in high school when da sqad up mixtapes started droppin. Had ? anticipating these joints like da new j's. By da time dis series ended,Wayne was officially in my top 5 doa.
(02 - 03 era)
Vol 1 n 2
Vol 3-6
vol 7 = 30 minute freesytle where he rapped all his last written rhymes(couldnt find it on youtube)
After da break up with sqad up he dropped "da drought" in late 03

Yo since gudda and t sreets went back to wayne. What happen to the other dudes? They still cool? (Excluding kidd kidd)

Next mixtape to drop was "the prefix" in 2004
Then was the drought 2
Then in 2005 he linked up wit dj drama and dropped "the dedication"
Later that year he dropped "the suffix" with dj khaled -one of my top 3 joints
............... -
Da following year,he hooked up wit dj drama again for "dedication 2" in 2006
THen in 2007 he released what most consider is his best mixtape "drought 3",which was a double disc.
-
this the wayne that was unstoppable imo, damn that success got to his head.

Impressive but the REAL king of mixtapes is 50 Cent without a doubt. 50 was a force in the mixtape circuit. He was the blueprint that EVERYBODY (including Wayne) is following now.
