Why is it that rap music over and over makes shout outs to mafioso people, movies, and characters from those movies? It would make sense if the mafia wasn't widely known for racism towards blacks. From in Godfather where the blacks are called ? to in Bronx Tale when mobsters try to throw Molotovs at the blacks for being in their neighborhood. Then there is Do the Right Thing which also depicts these conflicts. So why do rappers emulate and love the mob? To the point of taking their names!!
THE NAMES

Scarface - Al Capone's nickname
Machine Gun Kelly - A Mobster
Childish Gambino - Carlo Gambino, Gambino crime family
Yo Gotti - John Gotti
Young Gotti (Kurupt) - John Gotti
Snoop Dogg made an album called Doggfather.

idk to me those look mobbish.

QUOTES
'The fiends fight to get ? I just max, I dream I can sit back
and lamp like Capone, with drug scripts sewn' - Nas
'My portfolio reads: leads to Don Corleone, ? please' - Jay Z
'Watch Casino, I'm the hip-hop version of Nicky Tarantino' 'I make the papers, dangerous, we Goodfellas' - Biggie
'I'm the latino, that'll take you to war like Al Pacino. Even De Niro know not to gamble in my casino' - Cuban Link
'Yo it's Corleone and Queen's Most, we bust til your whole team ghost' 'Got more cash than Gotti' 'I charm freaks and bomb geeks from here to Palm Beach'- Big L (capone is largely known to have lived in palm beach for time)

I'm Italian and love hip hop my favorites being Nas, Big Pun, Biggie, all of those guys. My family is very Italian and we're not racist but it's always made me wonder if these people are racist towards rappers why would rappers glorify them? What do you think? Is my argument justified?

I think its just because mobsters are stand up guys who have spines who elevate themselves from the sorroundings, if you take their styles and cool names and mannerism its no suprise.

that racist ? , well black people say just as much racist ? ..... most people do behind close doors, its just mobsters are cool people (crime aside)

caught up in images. they portray who they believe the public perceives as tough and being gangsta. it's part of the from the hood mentality. the problem is that this had been exploited and prostituted off in hip hop b/c it's a business.

but rappers do it a lot b/c black folks in general love it a lot. and it's mainly b/c most of those gangsters have the come from nothing but made it to the top by any means attitude that a lot of ? in the trap can relate too.

Because we don't know our own history and in some cases have been robbed of the knowledge of it. We've had more "gangsta" people than any other culture. And i'm not talking putting hits out and merking folks.
