    Schizophrenia and Suicide

    Schizophrenia and Suicide

    by Kevin Caruso

Four in ten people who suffer from schizophrenia attempt suicide.

One in ten people who suffer from schizophrenia dies by suicide.

Thus, the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia should be considered an urgent matter.

What are you talking about I didn't see most posts here making fun of him, if anything people here want to understand

One thing I learned working with schizophrenic people is that the medication they giving them makes them dependent to it. You have doctors using DSM-IV-TR criteria to classify people who are necessarily schizophrenic but suffer from depression from there these docs turn them into lab rats experimenting different drugs/medication on them.

    Schizophrenia ranges in severity.
my uncle has it. But he's still functional.
He can live on his own, he doesn't require 24 hr help,
but he has to have social workers / counsellors / shrinks check up on him several times a week to ensure he's taking his medication and staying on track.

Some schizophrenics hear voices. They hallucinate and have other delusions.
Their grasp of reality is different than that of the people around them.

    thanks for that.

so if we talking severity and you saying your uncle is still functional. what does that mean? it sounds like he is basically enjoying a "normal" (whatever this is lol) life but has to take some medication to keep it like that? so i guess his schizophrenia isnt severe? but what are his symptoms i mean if hes living a normal life i doubt he is hearing any voices?? ok their grasp of reality is different, but how you know that? i mean i'm not really sure if my grasp of reality is the same as the man sitting left to me, how should i know?

mental diseases are very interesting but scary and hard to understand. how could i know that my keyboard isnt green? maybe i'm the only one in the room who thinks its black but it really isnt... ? scares me a lil bit lol.
