Philadelphia 76ers guard Lou Williams turned a would-be robbery into a chance for community outreach.
Williams told the Philadelphia Daily News that he was stopped in his car in the Philadelphia neighborhood of Manayunk on Christmas Eve when he was approached by a man wielding a gun.
But Williams, who has developed into a key reserve for the Sixers, said he managed to talk down the gunman -- and then treated his would-be assailant to McDonald's.
"A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community," the 25-year-old Williams told the Daily News. "He's a Lou Williams fan, so he didn't rob me."
Williams told the paper that he was driving his car when the man began to approach with a gun drawn and then knocked on the driver's window.
"There's crime everywhere," Williams told the Daily News. "I was debating whether to pull off to help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before I could really say much. I treated him to McDonald's."
Philadelphia opened the regular season in Portland on Monday night.
Lol thats kind of crazy cause I live down the road from Manayunk.
I can't say I don't believe him, but I just feel like he looks like more of a target now.
that and the closest McDonalds is at least 10mn away so they had a nice gun point conversation on the way
"let me get a double burger with cheese"

Stringer Bell thread.

the only thing that makes me doubt the credibility of this story is this line:He's a Lou Williams fan,
-
story does sound kinda of fugazi but as long as nobody got hurt it's whatever.

LOL "He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before I could really say much."
Yeah, that gun doesn't leave a lot of room to say much. -
