THREE hundred furious staff at a factory that builds Xbox 360s have said they will commit mass suicide if their wage demands are not met, it emerged today.
Employees at electronic giant Foxconn said the company has failed to give them money it had promised.

Angry workers at the plant, which makes components for Apple, Dell, Nintendo and Soni, then threatened to throw themselves off the top of the company's HQ.

Disaster in Wuhan, China, was only prevented after the local mayor intervened and talked the factory workers back from the edge.

The row came after staff threatened to go on strike if they did not get a pay increase for 100 workers.

Foxconn management reportedly refused the request and told employees they could either quit with one month's pay or go back to work.

Many quit but Foxconn then allegedly went back on their pledge and paid them nothing.

Around 300 workers returned to the plant and staged their protest on the roof on January 3.

A spokesman for Microsoft, the owner of the Xbox 360 brand, told CBS Seattle: "Microsoft takes working conditions in the factories that manufacture its products very seriously, and we are currently investigating this issue.

"We have a stringent Vendor Code of Conduct that spells out our expectations, and we monitor working conditions closely on an on-going basis and address issues as they emerge.

"Microsoft is committed to the fair treatment and safety of workers employed by our vendors, and to ensuring conformance with Microsoft policy."

1.the picture posted is not connected to the story.

    2. they arent 'xbox staff' because they aren't employees of microsoft

3.they arent asking microsoft to pay them more money, they are asking their employer who runs the factory

    4. a number of products are manufactured there, not just x-box.

You could be right, unno, took the story straight from a bestselling newpaper in the uk website.....check the link they used the same picture

It is a tabloid newspaper and I agree on them working for a factory rather directly via Microsoft. I posted it how it reads.

I might be heartless for saying this, but as a factory owner, why would I give a ? ? As bad as the global economy is, I could hire 300 more people in a heartbeat and probably for less. Love how the article says the mayor had to talk them down. I bet the company owner was thinking like me.
