Underground KIngs was a triumphant ass album to me. That whole first disc goes super hard to me, Don't skip a damn thing. "Grind hard" and "Take the hood back" were the only two I had to warm up to, but besides that that first cd was rolling. "Like that" was my ? @AggieLean. I'm surprised u aint like that one. The 2nd disc was straight, more hit or miss than disc 1, but the hits mane!!! "Shattered dreams", "Candy", "How long will it last", "Still Ridin' ? ", "2 types of ? ", "? ", "Real women", whole album is a damn classic.

Funny thing about Like That, is I like the remix on the first cd even though it's nothing but a beat change. I just don't like the beat on the OG version.
I agree with you on the classic comment. Them boys got 2 classics. Ridin ? & UG Kingz

My bad, I forgot that the one on disc 1 was the remix and the one on disc 2 was the original. My bad, I ain't like the original "Like that" either. I think Lil jon produced it, ? and Bun's rhymes from that song didn't mesh well with that Rock and roll beat in my opinion. That ? confusing as ? to have an original version of a song on disc 2 and the remix on disc 1 anyway. lol

@moyo that's right...Jon did produce that. Sounded like a leftover beat off of Crunk Juice.

Hell..I even liked that album they dropped after ? passed..ugk 4 life

UGK is Texas Platinum (100,000) many times over. It isn't an exaggeration to say that 90-95% of their total sales come from our state alone.

Also they hundreds of thousands of lost sales due to contract issues throughout their career. Banned and Southern Way were limited pressed albums from big time and very hard to get outside the east texas area in 1992 in retail form. When jive signed them it was 3 versions of the albums and alot of back and forth cease/desist from record stores. UGK mainly spreaded across Texas from bootlegs and dubs.

Even when super tight dropped not every record store had it or knew it was released. Riding ? was first time I saw a UGK album physically in the stores and it always seem to be low on stock. Also jive pressed more cassettes (dying media at the time with hip hop consumers) than CDs on album runs. This in turn left alot of the albums unsold until the eBay/discog area that got these OG tapes going for 100s of dollars.

Jive has always mismanaged their career, fanbase and buzz. ? money was pushed back for 3 years. For the last time NO. Jay Z did not help them get recognized because even when big pimpin and sipping on syrup was buzzing heavy Jive didnt capitalize on it. Jive finally in late late 2001 marketed pimpin ain't no illusion, a song that was on countless southern mixtapes in 1998 as the "first official return"" single of ? Money. Houston and Dallas strip clubs pushed the influence of Let Me See it on the radio. Theye always been underground even while being on a major.

Underground Kingz was a double album, so it went platinum because every album sale counted twice.
