A new developer joins the Forza family.

Straying from its two year release pattern, Turn 10 Studios just announced the development of a brand new Forza game called Forza Horizon. The catch is: they're not developing it. Playground Games, a brand new developer made up of former Bizarre Creations, Black Rock, Slightly Mad Studios, and Codemasters developers, will deliver the brand new take on the series this fall.

Very little is known about the project outside of its name, but a teaser trailer of live-action imagery revealed dance clubs, carnivals, and beautiful cars racing down deserted desert roads. This is big news coming from a series that has consistently delivered a new game every two years since 2005 -- and that this off-year release won't bear a number.

Additional news came up regarding the lifespan of Forza Motorsport 4. In May, a brand new expansion pack -- bigger than any of the monthly releases -- will bring 30 new cars into the game from a particularly contentious brand: Porsche. After losing the license to Electronic Arts before Forza 4 came out last year, Turn 10 Studios has renegotiated for the beautiful machines and you'll be able to grab them in just a few short months. This pack also includes 20 new World Tour events.

On top of these major announcements, a curious tweak comes with this week's title update as well. In addition to bug fixes, Turn 10 Studios will raise the level cap from the current 150 to 999. Racers hit Forza 4's cap much quicker than expected, so the additional levels should add months of longevity to anyone chasing experience down the road. In fact, Turn 10 Studios' Dan Greenawalt claims it's going to take at least nine to twelve months of intense racing to do it. Can you prove him wrong?

Alongside the title update comes the Pirelli Car Pack, featuring a wide range of cars from a beautiful new Aston Martin to the laughably clunky Ford Country Squire (though it hides a wicked engine under the hood). The title update and Pirelli Car Pack arrive tomorrow, March 6th. The Porsche expansion is scheduled for May, and Forza Horizons will release this fall.
