“Avatar” triggers the death of a Taiwan man
January 20, 2010, By Valencia in Hollywood
Beyond its success with a detail rich 3D animation, “Avatar” was reportedly is the cause of a Taiwan man’s death. Kuo, 42 years old, was taken immediately into Nan Men General Hospital and a scan showed that his brain was hemorrhaging which most probably was elicited by over-excitement from watching the chartbuster “Avatar” in 3D. “It’s likely that the over-excitement from watching the movie triggered his symptoms,” Peng Chin-chih, an emergency doctor said on Tuesday (January 19).
After struggling with the hemorrhagic brain stroke for 11 days, Kuo died and Chinese newspaper said that the death was closely linked with watching James Cameron’s best-selling movie, “Avatar”. Film blogging pages have reported objections of headache, dizziness, vomiting and blurry eyesight from viewers of “Avatar” and further movies loaded in 3D images.

I still haven't seen this flick yet, but have heard of folks having headaches and dizzyness after watching it. This could open the floodgates for legal actions, but really... who's liable IYO?

No one's liable. I think people are generally aware now of the possible, negative effects that images like these can have on a handful of certain people. But it said the hemorrhaging was caused by over-excitement from watching it. What, are Cameron and Fox supposed to be held liable for not making the movie more boring?
