What happened to Just Cause 3?

Square Enix has registered several websites related to Just Cause 4. Domain registrations reveal that the company has secured JustCause4.com via internet protection firm Corporation Service Company. In addition, Square Enix picked up international domains including Justcause4.it, Justcause4.co.uk, JustCause4.de and JustCause4.fr.

The news is especially interesting since the company hasn’t even announced Just Cause 3, let alone its sequel. When we last heard about Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche Studios, the company was said to be working on a licensed game, though that project hasn’t been formally announced.

We reached out to Square Enix about the websites, but the company declined to comment. For now it’s too early to tell if Just Cause 4 is on the way or if Square Enix is simply protecting its brand, but with E3 just two weeks away an announcement could be coming very soon.

Would you like to see another Just Cause game? Let us know in the comments below.
