2. Kendrick Lamar ... best lyricist out right now.
3. Ab Soul ... another of the realest up-and-comers.
4. Big K.R.I.T ... the man can spit for a southerner and outside the stripper joints, is a solid MC.
5. Joey Bada$$ ... a new comer, but makes the 5 because his style keeps boom bap alive.

for a thread that starts with "let's bring back intellectual discussion" there's not much discussion going on, just everyone posting their list.

I'm 39 years old, been listening to Hip Hop all my life. From Newton Centre, MA but I've been in New Jersey for the past 10 years.
Lately I've been listening to alot of Spoonie G. He's an early 80s MC that released music from 1979 up to about 1987. I think he put an album out around 87 or 88 but that's not his best material. His best stuff was a bunch of singles on independant labels. Anyway, I'll list a handful of Spoonie G tracks and ya'll can d/l em if you want.
"Spoonin Rap" -1979
"Love Rap"-1980
"New Rap Language" feat The Treacherous 3 -1980
"Monster Jam" feat The Sequence-1980
"Spoonie's Back" - 1982
"The Big Beat"-1983
"Street Girl"-1984/5
"That's My Style"-1985/6
"Take It Off"-1986
"The Godfather"-1987
Then around 1987 or 88 he released an album but he was kinda old and outdated. Rakim, LL Cool J and KRS One came out with a new style and Spoonie G sounded hella old school. But anyway, the ones in bold are the tracks I really like. Spoonie G is from the original class of MCs. He released a 12" single in 1979, the same year as "Rappers Delight"
