The “you owe me” mentality is killing this nation
by Rodan ( 106 Comments › )

I did a thread the other day on Cuban-American rapper Pitbull. In the ensuing conversation mfhorn pointed out that the “you owe me mentality” cuts across all races. Iron Fist and I had a conversation and it was the exact same thing. The problem within this nation is that people feel they are owed everything. Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say you are owed anything. In the United States you are guaranteed opportunity to succeed. This nation was not founded on a guaranteed outcome.

IMO

The current administration is determined to transform American into a nanny state or worse.

I agree to an extent that a lot of people are walking around with a false sense of entitlement, especially within the black community. Time and time again Amerikkka has shown us that they can care less but yet we still look to them when things don't go in our favor. We truly underestimate the power we have as a society but first this "the world owe me" ? need to die off and quick.

forty acres and a mule....was promised to my people for all the free labor.

try competing with other nations and have to pay to build this one....i bet we would just now be getting out of being a third world country

I understand that - but what have you done to help those whose won't help themselves - what have you done for your country? aside from claiming it still owes you for all the free labor -since when have YOU worked for free & since when have you been shackled and changed to hopelessness and held back from any opportunity this country affords you?

Here's a perspective I agree with and why America is doomed

What is fueling the Occupy Wall Street Movement is the entitlement mentality. In this case it is mostly spoiled white suburban youths who were told that if they went to college they would get a high paying job. That may have been true in the good job markets of the 80′s and 90′s but its not the case post 2000. The reality is that you must have a skill that is in demand. A degree on Imperialism in the 3rd World or Transgender Studies will not get you a job. Instead of obtaining new job skills these spoiled brats protest because they feel they are owed. The same applies to many blacks who think that because their ancestors were slaves and they were kept segregated they are owed. The truth is that this nation has more than made up for this historical wrong. No one owes them anything.

Now the new right that people feel owed is contraceptives. Many women feel we owe them the pill or other birth control methods. No one owes them anything. If they choose to engage in sexual activity, its up to them to pay for birth control. In the video below a Georgetown University student, named Sandra Fluke, complains that birth control is expensive.

1st...why would i help someone that wont help themselves. an i do alot for my country like paying taxes and alot of them. what do you do for the country other than feel entitled to speak?
as for me working for free....you whites never get it. if my ancestors would have got paid for their work and allowed to go to school and not killed because they could read....then their children would have had a better start, and there children a better start and their children a better start. so don't talk to me about ? . go pop that ? to a jew an tell them to stop talking about what they are owed from their family getting robbed during the holocaust...ppl still get ? returned to them ...just this year.

as for as oppurtunities held back....ppl are held back everyday in the workforce and overlook just because ppl dont want them there, are threatened by them and alot of ppl quit rther than work for a black person...

so what you got to say now....oh wait...it doesnt matter....you pretend to not know but i refuse to believe you naive...your just a white person that doesnt want the playing feild leveled and have to compete on equal grounds with someone darker than you....because like i said ...you feel entitled. and like the thread says ....you feel someone owes you even though you dont know what it is or want to share it.

Why don't you tell that to all the employees of Walmart - IE the many stores that have Black Managers and other blacks who hold positions of authority - how come so many blacks can and do succeed in America - don't tell me there Uncle Toms - cause that's BS!

It's more of a ” the mans trying to hold me down” mentality then a” you owe me” mentality. Most people would be correct to think that way but it's more cliche than them knowing what they are talking about. The rich and wealthy have always been the most powerful people. Why would those with power share it. What sense would that make?

Makes none, you absolutely right. They come up with ridiculous ? like "entitlement mentality" to suppress people who notice the power disparities. Its wrong to complain unless you rich it seems.

What america owes black people is the same ? it gives everyone else. We don't want special treatment, we shouldn't need special treatment. There shouldn't be a need to call the NAACP, there shouldn't be a need for affirmative action, and we shouldn't have a reason to pull the race card. We shouldn't need to march and protest for ? . What we're owed is the same justice, rights, and liberties everyone else is getting. The same everyone should be getting in the first place.

And seriously, you don't "make up" for slavery, america. 40 million plus in deaths ain't something you repay. You want to ? a man's family, steal him of his country, break his will, chop off his legs, and then say "My'bad, here's a mule".

If white america wasn't so conflicted with guilt they'd realize there are somethings in life that are not to be forgiven. The only thing this country could/had to do was give us equality. Hell, they're the ones that made the decision to do so. So don't get all upset when we call this country out for not doing what they said they would. What their religion says they could. And what their laws say they should.

And let's be honest here. The only people with any entitlement issues is white folks. Y'all could of kept your ass european and let everyone be. But no, y'all wanna run out pillaging every piece land and profit you see. Europe ain't even a damn continent by definition, but guess who felt they were entitled to have they own ? ? Who felt entitled to take the america's from it's natives and ? over the aboriginals?

Everything y'all see y'all feel entitled to it. People are killed, countries are left in ruins, and economies are turned upside down cause of white folks feeling entitled. But the minute we tap you on the shoulder to remind you what you doing ain't right, you want to holler bout taking the country back. The more y'all get angry the more is seems like you're just projecting your faults on to us.

If some Black people do have an entitlement mentality, it is rightly deserved, for you White folk have been the biggest thieves and genocidal, mass murdering maniacs of all time. Tell your people to get off the ENTITLEMENT MENTALITY Slick.....spread the word. I just wish you White people got the memo years ago, before the Native Americans and Aboriginals got ? over by your kind.

It is true but its not just white folks, corporations and the people that run them (like white folks for instance) believe they have a right to everything.

These ? think they have a right to land in Iraq, oil in Saudi Arabia, water in Nicaragua and other countries they've never seen and use taxpayer dollars and court systems to get themselves rights and privileges but refuse to pay taxes and cry "class warfare" or "entitlement" when people notice that ? .

But everyone else has an entitlement problem?

    ? outta here.

Where have you been for the last few centuries? You never heard of the civil rights movement? You never heard of Marcus Garvey? Malcom X? The race riots across the US? The massacre of black wall street? ? Sunday? The marches of MLK? The people that died for something as simple as being able to vote? We been fighting for change. We been showed our strength. We been grew up.

The only stagnate, ignorant, selfish, self entitled, living off a legacy people is you and your kind. Apartheid wasn't even 50 years ago. And a cop can still ? a black child with no consequence since two weeks ago. You're the sniveling group that's afraid of being surpassed. You're the ones hiding history in virtually every aspect of life. Your history books, your government, your media, your scholars, your surveys, your politicians, your judicial system, and your ideals are still based on some ? from 1492.

Every time we do "get the ? up and do something" someone gets assassinated. You buy someone off. You threaten families. You bury it in red tape. Assassinate our character. Manipulate stereotypes. Every time we try to offer peaceful resolution or demand our rights as citizens you come with some covert warfare ? . It's gotten to the point where in some cases, you don't even do that. You just do it all blatantly.

Black in america is a comic book of villians and no superheroes. You can't even explain simple ? to them from a different perspective for understanding. Everything wrong with blacks is a black man's fault, but white people get to blame black folks for all their problems. White people want to be a victim so bad. But all I gotta do is drive a nice car and my mother might not never see me again. All cause of some white son'? not growing up.

But all that went over your head. You're going to reply with every action and reaction I've stated in the lines above. I'm going to say the same ? you've always ignored. We're so predictable it's pitiful. We're both old relics of hate that need to die out. If any youngsters did read this titangraph, do me a favor. Be better than us. Don't repeat this ? .

To those who feel that white people are SO privileged

No, there is no "white privilege" in the US. There used to be decades ago (even though there shouldn't have been), but not any more. Whites are put down, shut out, belittled and made to feel guilty these days for simply being white. There are no advantages whatsoever to being white, and in fact it is often argued that there are disadvantages. I'm not saying that this is wrong or right, it's just an observation from someone who grew up in the 60's and has witnessed a major change in the US in his lifetime. The way I look at it a balance is being sought and it's still going to take a while for it to sort itself out.

So wallow in it and keep believing that white people are SO privileged - history isn't about to repeat itself. Imo if you wanna wallow in the past...do so,others will just leave you behind and you'll lose big time in long run.

So all you see is someone giving you a guilt trip? That's your own ? up thinking seeing a guilt trip. I addressed the thread title and with lengthy detail. But you reminded of something I did forget to mention. You're continuous, often deliberate, failure of understanding once again proves this. There is one thing that white people don't feel entitled too, the truth.

Now by your logic.... I should consider this post as you attempting to put a guilt trip on me, right? I'm trying to give you simple truths, but you call it wallowing in the past? If that's the case don't give us the observation of some old ? from the 60's.

How we ever going to find true "balance" when your kind keeps ignoring your roles in this chaos? I'm talking bout, "MFer's owe me". You go off and start talking bout white problems. Who the hell said anything about white privileges besides you? You still campaigning for that victim vote?

How we ever going to find true "balance" when your kind keeps ignoring your roles in this chaos? I'm talking bout, "MFer's owe me". You go off and start talking bout white problems. Who the hell said anything about white privileges besides you? You still campaigning for that victim vote?

Don't give me your malarkey - if I've heard-it once I've heard it said a 1000 times - and written by so many within this site I should patent the term OR maybe print t-shirts - you and yours got victimhood on lock and key!

I said this before (actually shout it), and I'll repeat-it for those who didn't get my simple message.

DON'T LAY THAT GUILT TRIP ON ME!

Malarkey? Really? I mean YOU can look on the fist page of GNS or SL and see an example of us not getting what we're owed. Google it and you'll have enough information to digest for a year. Connect the dots and recognize the patterns and you'll have your mind blown. Ain't no making up the ? I've presented to you, it's all happened. It's all documented. It's all still in practice. But.... I get you now.

Despite what you choose to ignore, hide, or hate to admit, Black americans actually were and in many cases still are the victims of your kinds old ass thinking. That's a fact. There's no other way to put this than to send it with a bullet in your head. You're one of those guys, civility is a waste of time. You're the enemy plain and simple. You're not qualified to even open a discussion of interracial dialog, you're too disconnected. Stick to white people problems in the white world. Leave the pursuit of balance to the more intelligent of your race.
