Arachnophobes look away now.
The first new species of spider to be discovered in America for 140 years has been found lurking in caves in California and Oregan.
It’s called Trogloraptor - or "cave robber" – and experts say that’s it’s a ferocious animal.
The cave robber spider was previously unknown to science
It measures about four centimetres wide when its legs are extended and it wields spectacular, elongate claws.
It is a spider so evolutionarily special that it represents not only a new genus and species, but also a new family - Trogloraptoridae.
The beast was discovered by a team of scientists from the Western Cave Conservancy and arachnologists from the California Academy of Sciences.

A statement released by the team said: “Their extraordinary, raptorial claws suggest that they are fierce, specialised predators, but their prey and attack behaviour remain unknown.”
Meanwhile, Charles Griswold, Curator of Arachnology at the California Academy of Sciences, told the BBC’s Today show that the discovery was a “historic moment”.
The scientists expressed their wonderment that a spider species could remain hidden for so long and speculated that the population could be fairly widespread over the forests and caves of western North America.

i've been bitten on the chest below my left collar bone & i gotta say.. being shot can not be much worse..

hell no.. i wish i could erase my memory of it.. the ? was intense to say the very least. you basically have two choices once you see you have a bite.. go to the hospital where they will scrub the venom pockets out [which are actively dissolving your surrounding flesh into a ? like material each minute they are inside your body] with a medical type of scrubber that looks like something you might use on dishes.. or you can get em' out yourself.. so not being a fan of paying someone to do something i can do for myself... i basically pressed & pressed till i literally fished out the two pockets from my chest.. as a result of trying to get them out, some of the venom would get into my blood stream & make me break into cold sweats & I'd start to feel nauseous..HustleTree wrote: »

I did that on purpose, you're gonna SEE the damn pictures ? LOL -
it was a small brownish black one.. not sure what kind it was though. after that bite.. the arachnophobia set in.. so i'd be goin' nite nite & feel something just slightly touch my skin.. i'd immediately jump up & turn the lights on to see that it was only the ceiling fan blowing frayed threads [from the patchwork quilt my grandma made] against my leg or something.. that was ten years ago & i'm still paranoid..Pico Roscoe wrote: »Ok ?
