my dad def goes overboard on some christmases. He hasn't the past 2, but there were some crazy ones back in the day. Like crazy to me atleast. But my dad did grow up poor though.

lol ? damn at how much I can relate to this...Short term purchases only...Maaan one time my mum ? an extra £100 or so from somewhere...yes...only ONE HUNDRED pounds...she sat us down in the front room and told us...(5 of us plus my dad's two kids) and she asked us what we wanted to do with it...
We made it stretch into about 15 fun as ? activities -

I learned from a good friend that having money last until the next pay period is a better feeling than wasting your ? at the club.
I learned to save $20 a week then it went to $100. I saw my savings and was happy as hell. Then I had to fight the other habit and that was soend all your money as soon as you get it.
I hate to hear people say dumb ? like "You cant spend it when you dead." But your kids can, stupid. -
