For the single parents out there, how would ya'll react to this question if/when your kid asked why their parents aren't together? How honest would you be in telling them why things didn't work out with their other parent?

Depends on her age.
I'm not going to lie to her though. -
I've been thru the explaining why daddy has to leave and go to his own place when they were younger. Now they pretty much understand their momma is crazy
I'm not even jokin with that statement -
she ain't love me.. she just loved my ? .....
lol, sike naw, just tell them when they get older and start getting into relationships it'll be come clearer and clearer, everybody who likes eachother when they first meet, don't always stay that way...
i know the "you'll understand when you get older" seems like a cop out.. bt it's true, a lotta ? doesnt' become clear until the mind is mature enough to properly process it..
and explaining grown up issues to children just ain't what's poppin... -
change the subject
parents dont have to tell the children everything -
That's the truth @du
I understood my parents relationship and divorce so much better as an adult..it really helped me put things in perspective and not hate my dad. As much. -
I went through this recently, i just said me and her mom didn't get along anymore. She didn't have any follow up questions so that was the end of it

Whatever you do dont take the bitter route and slander your ex in front of the kid. My parents ? w/ me doin that ?
-
My mom was pretty good about keeping her mouth shut about my dad.
She had her moments but looking back she did really good considering the circumstances. -
