Marriage makes sense to me now

I had it in my head that marriage was not designed for men to benefit at all and that it cut freedom and that getting married was the equivalent to sticking your head into a noose.
Recently i've adapted an ideology in which I feel as though I am not obligated to most people - which is true because we have no agreement and the law does not say I need to help you - thus I am justified in abstaining and refusing to do nice / thoughtful things for people. It is in that thinking that I realized: Unless you have some sort of contract (i.e. marriage) a person you are in a "relationship" with does not owe you a damn thing and you are not entitled to their gratitude, loyalty, help, attention and whatever else you may desire. While people try to say marriage is about love, i do not see it as that. It is about making sure you are getting what you desire through contract.
In this understanding, I can see now why people would want to get married.

Marriage is not that black & white.

So once you get married - you're obligated but as long as you're single, you aren't ?
-

I would like to hear your take on it.So once you get married - you're obligated but as long as you're single, you aren't ?
The contract is not nearly as binding. While we do have laws governing the increasingly popular common law marriages many 'dating' relationships are really just based on tacit agreements as opposed to the iron like marriage contracts/promises.SleepwalkingInJapan wrote: »good for YOU bruh..

I doubt I will ever get married as well. But for the longest I could not understand why any man would do it. Now I can see why some might get married.

Marriage isn't for everyone. Lol, its for people that are friends, lovers, sex partners, business partners, etc. Your lives have to meld, your plans have to parallel and you have to have your own lives with numerous reasons to come together. Sex, business, family, vacation, leisure, and your dreams and passions should be enough to keep you all enjoying your love and each other. Full communication, make your own rules, involve very few, make friends with people who can carry their own and help yours while you help theirs.

Marriage = women being legally your property.

lol not that extreme but that's kind of how it is. That person is now obligated to you, almost in a sense of you owning them.
You hear about the French guy who had to pay his wife 10,000 Euros because he did not have sex with her enough? According to the judge he was obligated to do so as a husband. -
Welp...another reason to get married is if you like fall-in-your-lap ? because these women don't give a ? about a wedding ring. I think it turns em on actually. Thirst.
Thats aiight tho. I'm out here forsaking the hell outta these hoes.
Interoffice IM's: I'm forsaking these hoes.
My Email Inbox: I'm forsaking these hoes.
Break Room: I'm forsaking the ? outta these hoes.
Not worth it.
...anyway carry on. -
I think marraige would be cool if its to the right woman..

Ideally........

Some people think the contract part is the bad part. I think that those people are just afraid of true commitment.
