From METRO TIMES (Detroit., Hard Copy [no link]):
So I was reading this paper about a guy who had diabetes and lost weight on his own diet. He blogged about it and now the state of NC put out a cease and desist letter on him. Apparently they have a law against unqualified persons giving nutrition advice.

Check this: The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) got the law on the books...but here's the kicker: AND is in bed with corporations like Coke & Pepsi. So when bloggers write about not using the products of "partner" corporations then AND steps in and files a complaint. As an example of how close they are, apparently Hershey has been using them to promote a "healthy" diet involving hershey candies.

They claim they step in to protect against unfair competition for registered dietitians and dietetic technicians but really they step in because people advise against using high sugar products like coke, pepsi, general mills cereal, and Mars candy. There are examples of companies (like Hershey) giving upwards of $200,000 to AND for various things.

That dude basically cured himself of type 2 diabetes. Dude lost 80lbs and got himself taken off insulin. It should be up to the people to decide if they wanna try his diet plan and that's without the ultimate question of why the government allows industry and corporations sit in concert this way.

No wonder Americans are on average the fattest people in the world.
