Just imagine a rapper sitting in the studio... Writing in his rhyme pad... Pretend he had second thoughts on a line, and erased it (or erased from their mind for ? who claim they don't write rhymes)...
This thread is about picking 1 line where... If the artist had erased it, some things could've been different in rap history... Imma start:
""L, is that a mic on your arm? Let me borrow that" - Cannibus
I'm sure Canibus as written hundreds of thousands of bars in his life... Just imagine if bis had wrote that, then laughed and said, "nah, imma scratch that".... Lol.. A lot of ? coulda changed.
I think it's crazy because the line really isn't ? ... and it started a beef that was pointless...
I remember back when DMX was first bubbling.. Canibus was on the same wave length as that ? popularity wise... I remember having a little tape (the kind you stick your finger in to rewind) with some fire ass Canibus rhymes.. He was hot... I know there would have never been a 2nd round knockout without the beef.. And I know Canibus didn't help his cause with not being able to make songs and hooks...
But I still think Canibus could've went on to if not have a career on DMX level, at LEAST on somebodie's level like Cam'Ron or somebody.. He could've had a decent long term impact on the culture...
But 1 line wiped all that out...
Now the ? gettin ripped in battles by no name rappers, going to the army and probably on drugs... ? sad when you think about it.

Any Ja-Rule line aimed at 50, DMX, or Eminem in 02-03

Yeah I was going to say that "Ask Nas he don't want it with Hov" that ? would have changed hip-hop.
-
I kno you said lines, but how about that Annie sample not clearing for Jay on Vol.2?

*Funk Flex growl* Mean. Very true. -
"(Say his name, say his name!) A real live tale about a snitch named Haitian Jack"
-
"Hey Busy Bee, I don't mean to be bold/ but put that bah-biddy-bah-bah ? on hold" - Kool Moe Dee
If this were never said, crowd chants and party rhymes would still be the norm in hip hop, and lyricism would not exist as it does today. -

Not really since Jigga's career>>>>>>>Nasir's and he lyrically won the battle
Unless weak bars like "you 36 in a karate class you tae boe hoe" are impressive to you -
"You love to hear the story, again and again / how it all got started, way back when" - MC Shan
KRS One prolly wouldn't have overreacted and made South Bronx, and maybe, just maybe might not even exist. -

Lol that battle itself changed far more than Jay's career trajectory
You could argue it affected his career the least
Not even to ? on Nas, but no Jay vs Nas beef=No fire lit under Nas, which could = no Stillmatic 5 mic album= Nas makes Nastradamus albums the rest of his career
Hard for people to realize but they human too, Ether gave Nas his swagger back

"? the police coming straight from the underground/Young ? got it bad cuz I'm brown"-Cube
"Stompin on the 'Eazy'est streets that you can walk on
So ? your Compton hat, your locs
And watch your back cause you might get smoked, loc"-Dre
if dre never went at Eazy no one would ever question his identity. Eazy exposed the ? out of Dre
