Gangbangers in Chicago: What makes them tick, what are they thinking?
CBS 2’s Walter Jacobson sat down with gang members in Chicago’s troubled Englewood neighborhood to try to find some answers.
Some of the responses he received were not encouraging.
Some of the young men were brought into gangs as children. Isn’t that pretty young to play gang warfare?
A young man answered: “I chose the gang. I didn’t have to choose anything. I was only 10. My OG (old gangster) gave me everything. But I just went on my own and I chose to get in the gang. We was whipping everybody in the neighborhood. Respect. I was getting money.”

These kids have no hope, raised in poverty most are also abandoned by their Fathers so they look to "OG's" to play that role.
? is tragic....really sad. I read up on the JoJo kid and was astounded about his family supporting the ignorant ? he did. -
Gangbangers have nothing else but the homies & the hood and they defend both to the death. When kids have no positive influences they find negatives one.

Its a vicious cycle. It all starts in the household. Men need to take care of their responsibilities as fathers , but even before that , women need to make smarter decisions with who they decide to have sex with. Cuz u cant expect a ? to wanna build a family with u , if u was nothin but a quick ? to him...

It still goes on in other places but most other places are comin off that as much as they can. This type stuff been goin on since the 70's. Aint nothin new. But its news cause crime rates are goin down everywhere and the thing is to try and do better. But what's goin on there is different and newsworthy as far as whats goin on in the rest of the country. -

Englewood is a ? , used to be all white "like the rest of Chicago" and their ain't ? over there. Nothing but arab,liquor,dollar, just regular hood ? . it's just plain ? over there
