If you a real Cass fan, you remember the disappointment of DJ Thoro ? up this great mixtape:

Even tho there are other examples of DJs doing the most on mixtapes.. I always thought that tags, rewinds, and random shout outs were a special stamp on a mixtape. DJ DRAMA, the GOAT DJ, so ? off always dropped the best mixtapes because he seemed to be involved in the project.
Although theres classic mixtapes without DJ's, am i the only one who like a "Gangster Grills!" at least 4 times on one song? Lol

It's just you

I like them, but sometimes they can be a nuisance, especially if the DJ is just promoting themselves instead of adding something cohesive to the mixtape.
-
I aint gon lie sometimes i listen to a song and just randomly yell "Holliday Season!" or "Aphiliates ? Pay Attention"
-
I catch myself yelling tags out when some songs are on the radio being they're burnt into my head from a mixtape
-
Gucci had some great mixtapes with tags too. It just make the track hype, especially when the beat is hard too.

Naw i like the rawness of a dj, rewinding something, yelling something, shoutouts. differentiate it from free albums and retail albums IMO
-
this should be played at a high volume, preferably in a residential area
-
I like them when they come in at the right time. Trap-A-Holics got the best ones though. And my favorite is Juiceman's drop on Holiday's tapes,
"Holiday seeeeeeeasoonnnnnn....AYE!" -
This a nitti beat

On a side note the broad that does the maybach music tag sounds like she look good
-
yeah, i just loved hearing sirens and random gunshots and really getting into a verse right before the whole thing is rewinded and played to that exact same point, at which point it rewinds again.
I also loved when Kay Slay would yell "damn" over the best punchlines.
I also loved when Big Mike would spend the first 10-15 seconds dissing another DJ. B/c when i listen to a mixtape, i'm listening for the DJ address his ? beef with another DJ.
I loved hearing DJ Envy yell his name at the beginning of every song, along with "people's choice!".
Loved hearing Clue yell his name and have it echo through half a verse.
I guess when i listen to music i'm not trying to induce a seizure by overworking my brain by trying to have it filter all the noise Dj's throw on music so they can remind me a zillion times a song that they're the one that made the mixtape. -
I love Bigga Rankin's drop too
"This is what a real mixtape is supposed to sound like!" "HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY!" -

It depends on who's hosting. Some mixtape dj's have some creative tags, some not so much.
SN: Why does DJ scream always sound like he's about to ? somebody? -

Everything you said there condescendingly, I truly enjoy.
