""The Witcher 3 will be released in 2014 simultaneously on all high-end platforms available."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available on the PlayStation 4, CD Projekt Red has revealed.

While we've already heard that the game will be a "next generation RPG" set to appear on "all top of the line consoles and PC in 2014", this is the first time that the title's presence on next-gen consoles has been confirmed.

CD Projekt Red chief Adam Badowski said, "The Witcher 3 will be released in 2014 simultaneously on all high-end platforms available. We know that our fans are looking forward to that date already, but we want to make it clear that this story is a standalone, and we will be sure introduce newcomers fully to the world so that they don't miss a beat."

So there you have it; confirmation of what we all expected already. Still, it's nice to make things official!

The Witness is a Timed Exclusive for PS4
Blow clarifies his statements during the announcement event.

Earlier this week Jonathan Blow, developer of the critically acclaimed Braid, showcased his next game The Witness at the PS4 Launch Event and announced that it was coming exclusively to Sony's console. This confused some of the audience, not only because the way it was worded, but because Blow has previously said the game was coming to PC and perhaps iOS.

Today Blow posted an update on the official site for The Witness, clarifying that the deal with Sony is only concerning consoles, and is only a timed exclusive. This means that The Witness is still free to come out at any point for PC and iOS, and after an undisclosed amount of time could come to the Wii U or Microsoft's next console. Blow also clarified that no money was involved in the deal to make it a timed exclusive. Blow further elaborated that, "I don’t have good communication with anyone at Microsoft right now, but all our technical people like the PS4 specs a lot more than the leaked Durango specs, and we like the positioning of the PS4 (it’s about games) more than what we perceive Microsoft’s positioning is going to be." Thus the PS4 port of The Witness came to be.

The timing for launch on PS4 and other consoles has yet to be determined, and Blow says he'll know more as the game comes closer to fruition.
