TONY WINNER JEFFREY WRIGHT JOINS HBO'S 'BOARDWALK EMPIRE'
K. Clark Posted March 7, 2013
The Angels in America Tony winner has signed on the dotted line to join HBO's gritty crime drama as a series regular.
A week after casting Ron Livingston, Boardwalk Empire has added handsome gentleman Jeffrey Wright. He'll play "Valentin Narcisse, Doctor of Divinity, philanthropist, student of culture and the man who runs Harlem," according to Deadline.
Keep in mind the epic-ness of this addition: With two decades enlisted on-screen, Wright's appearance on the popular show marks his first gig as a series regular.
Wright earned a Tony and later an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for Angels In America. He also appeared on Broadway in Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk, Topdog/Underdog, and A Free Man of Color. Wright will also be featured in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as Beetee, as well as Only Lovers Left Alive and The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete.
Could Jeffrey Wright add Oscar to his G.T.E. collection?

Jeffrey Wright Joins ‘Boardwalk Empire’ Cast in Harlem Kingpin Role

Boardwalk Empire is the show to watch on cable, but things just got even more exciting for the upcoming season 4. After casting Ron Livingston in a guest spot as a love interest for Gillian Darmody (aka the beautiful Gretchen Mol), the series’ producers have added an even bigger name to the already star-studded cast – Jeffrey Wright.
Wright, whom you may know from such films as “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close,” “The Ides of March,” “Source Code,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Casino Royale,” “Syriana,” “The Manchurian Candidate” or “Ali”… uhm, where was I?
Sorry, lost my train of thought there for a second. I was saying that Wright, an awesome supporting actor with over 40 titles in his resume already, will be playing the regular role (with emphasis on “regular”) of Valentin Narcisse, “Doctor of Divinity, philanthropist, student of culture and the man who runs Harlem”.
I know what you’re thinking. You can smell the awards already. Only, believe it or not, Boardwalk is yet to get a single Emmy or Golden Globe nod for supporting actors (male actors, at least).
Oh, well, you have to start somewhere, right? Only Wright will have to first overshadow his on-screen friends and enemies – Michael Stuhlbarg, Michael Shannon, Stephen Graham, Michael Kenneth Williams or Jack Huston. Not exactly a walk in the park, eh? -

You damn right it is. this ? is crucial. terrence winter has also added lehane and pelecanos to the writing staff. both of whom were scriptwriters for the wire. and if u throw in the fact that richard harrow is still running around the decision to focus on the chicago wars with van alden in the mix, you have a strong case for this upcoming season to possibly be GOAT -

not to mention the fact that Margrate will no longer be a focal point -
Dude from The office seems like a weird fit and what the ? is a Dr. of Divinity?
-
Dr of Divinity seems like some real ? a Harlem hustler would call himself.
It's a name that could fit a man that does many jobs. All around fixer. Money lender, bill payer, turkey hander-outer, good word deliverer, who don't build no bookcases. -
nice. so he'll be like the bumpy johnson type.

good to hear.
Boardwalk pretty much can do no wrong. -
