Lost Tapes could be argued as an album. Many artists release albums that contain previously unreleased songs intended for other albums. For example, two songs from Hip Hop Is Dead were mentioned in reviews for Street's Disciple. Lost Tapes also had new songs like "Nothing Lasts Forever", "My Way" and the alternate version of "No Idea's Original". Then there's relatively new material from the Stillmatic sessions like "Everybody's Crazy", "Black Zombies", and "Purple". "Doo Rags" was from like 2000-2001. The rest of the songs were from the scrapped double disc version of I Am...
As it stands, Lost Tapes and Blueprint are standouts in both artist's catalogs. Comparing them side by side is difficult. IMO, Lost Tapes is slightly better on the strength that there's only really one sub-par song ("Everybody's Crazy") where Blueprint has "Jigga That ? " and "Hola Hovito". -

That ? sold the ? for a regular album price so it's a regular album. Lots of albums contain previously unreleased material. Nas was just more forthcoming about it when it came to that album. -

I match albums against each other regularly, but at least I match the same type of albums against each other..
And I love The Lost Tapes too.. -
Y'all ? really gonna act like lost tapes ain't a 4.5/5 album atleast??
-
Lost Tapes is in Nas best 3 albums.
Purple, Doo Rags, You Gotta Love It, My Way, Fetus, Black Zombies, ? By Myself nearly every track is a flawless. -
The BlueprintLost Tapes might be dope, but it's still an album of leftovers.
We gonna compare "All Eyez On Me" to "Duets: The Final Chapter" next? -
This Jay-Z vs. Nas debate is getting too repetitive and not advancing any argument towards anything.

[Verse 3]
Yo, hoes in my focus slow me, rolled with the brokest homies
Cold and we hopeless lonelies, scolding my foes who phony
From blocks where coke can feed you and cops are over evil
They know some people who tell on felons who sold some diesil
Heroine and blow it ruins minds, knew a crew one time
'89, they took work to Carolina and blew big time
In just two years, their crew disappear
Snitches and ? , smeared the paint on their pictures
Years back, I reminisce and remember, sitting on wood benches
Gave me splinters, just a baby ? thankful
When them killers came through, guns out, moving
I thank the ones who said shorty go home, we about to be shooting.. -

I see what you did there.

The fact that its a compilation of a few years worth of music, its not fair to compare it to other albums that had deadlines, time contraints, etc.
But if Lost Tapes WAS an album, it would be one of the 2 or 3 greatest hip hop albums in history. -
The Blueprintso the gif even knows Nas lost
