Mega Man first-person shooter canceled in 2010 - Report
A Mega Man first-person shooter was not meant to be. Sources have told Polygon that Capcom canceled this project--codenamed Maverick Hunter--during greenlighting meetings in 2010.
The game was in development at Austin, Texas-based Armature Studio, the outfit founded by Metroid Prime veterans that is currently working on Batman: Arkham Origins Blackglate for 3DS and PlayStation Vita. It reportedly had the blessings of original Mega Man designer Keiji Inafune.
Unlike some of the classic Mega Man titles, Maverick Hunter was said to be thematically inspired by the more mature Mega Man X franchise. It was also to stay true to core concepts and include a reimagined X-Buster arm cannon, among other features.
Though Armature Studio had a playable build of Maverick Hunter up and running, its existence was a short-lived six months around the beginning of 2010. Sources said it "showed promise," but was ultimately considered a "significant gamble," and ultimately canceled in the months before Inafune left Capcom later in 2010.
Maverick Hunter joins a group of other canceled Mega Man games that includes Mega Man Online, Mega Man Universe, and Mega Man Legends 3.

I know I am Legends 1 and 2 was my ? .
if this game showed promise I would've copped especially since I messed with the X series heavy. -
Another dope game that will never be...
Could have done for Megaman what Metroid Prime did...
Shame -
That pic looks real corny.
All they gotta do with Mega Man is make Ratchet and Clank, in a slightly different universe.
First Person and changing Mega Man's look is NOT the way to go. -
actually yeah, imagine Insomniac making a Mega Man game. That'd actually be pretty trill.

I think a Megaman FPS would have been cool. Looking at those vids though, I don't think this game would have fit the bill. It pretty much bears no resemblance to any Megaman game.

Came in to say this. Who would have thought the Prime series would be the best Metroid games there are? If done properly, a Mega Man FPS would be dope
