Patrick at GiantBomb recently sat down with Scott Rohde, Senior Vice President of product development at Sony's worldwide studio, to do a question and answer session about the PlayStation 4.
Tons of different topics are discussed including online passes, external hard drives and more.
In particular, it was asked if the PS3 USB peripherals such as FightSticks would work on the PlayStation 4. While Scott Rohde didn't know for sure he said "it is likely the PS3 peripherals will work on on PS4."
It was also asked if mouse and keyboard would will work on the PS4, Scott noted it was "somewhat likely." While this does not mean they could work with fighting games as with the PS3 you can use the keyboard to type. Many fighting game fans would love to be able to use a keyboard for different fighting games.

I dont think ppl know that the PS3 supports USB controllers, it supports all kinds of USB gamepads, I think PC version of the 360 controller even works on it. Its smart of them to carry the feature over to PS4
Ive seen ppl using sega saturn controllers for fighting games on PS3 -

Sony: PS3 joysticks and such will work with the PS4 if developers allow it There's been a good bit of conflicting information on if PlayStation 3 Fight Sticks and other similar products would be compatible with the PlayStation 4, but Sony clarified how things will work once and for all on their official website.
Will PS3 peripherals such as fighting sticks and steering wheels work with PS4?
Generally speaking, no. However, at launch, users will be able to use these controllers if a specific game title allows it to be used within the game. This decision is upon the game developer and will vary from game to game.
So there you have it, if the developers specifically choose to allow this functionality it'll work.
For those wondering about PS4 to PS3 compatibility, a video recently surfaced showing that as long as you connect your PS4 controller via USB, it should still work. -
