It's published by Microsoft this time not Capcom so don't hold your breath. Wouldn't be surprised if it came out for PC though.

It will come with a different name just like Ninja Gaiden. Capcom will have no choice as this game will sell horribly on the X1.

Dead Rising 3 gets Xbox SmartGlass-only missions

Microsoft's companion app unlocks unique missions

Posted on Sunday 23rd Jun 2013 at 11:23 PM UTC By Mike Jackson for CVG UK

Dead Rising 3 will feature missions exclusive to Xbox One players who have a smartphone or tablet device running Xbox SmartGlass.

The game's executive producer Josh Bridge has revealed that the Xbox Live companion app will link to the game to act as a phone, through which a character in the game will relay exclusive missions.

"After you launch the [SmartGlass] app, it notices that Dead Rising is currently being played, press a button, and in kicks our phone. It actually skins your phone to be like the phone from the game's universe," explained Bridge to Siliconera.

During the campaign, he went on to explain, "you'll get calls from a character that are only on the SmartGlass device. So if you don't have SmartGlass, you won't get those calls from that guy. Which also means you won't get those missions."

This doesn't, however, mean you'll be unable to complete the main story without SmartGlass.

"His storyline is his own. And it interweaves with the main storyline. Without it, you're not losing out on what the story is. But you're getting more out of the game," assured Bridge.

In Dead Rising 3 - Capcom's latest open-world zombie survival game - players take control of new protagonist Nick Ramos in the crestfallen city of Los Perdidos, three days after a zombie outbreak. The game was unveiled during Microsoft's E3 press conference with a trailer.

Dead Rising 3 is available 'this holiday' exclusively for Xbox One.

Dead Rising 3 First Look (Xbox One)
    06/24/13
    By Bryan Dawson

Dead Rising 3 is an Xbox One exclusive that will be available when the console launches in November. If you're a fan of the Dead Rising series, the first next-generation installment takes everything you know and love about the franchise and gives it a next-gen boost of awesomeness. The game stars newcomer Nick Ramos. He's a mechanic with a mysterious past from Los Perdidos, California.

The new game takes place 10 years after the events of Dead Rising 2. The choice of making Nick a mechanic is directly tied to the gameplay. Nick has the ability to combine items to make new weapons on the fly. This adds to the variety of the game and puts players to the test as they figure out the best combination to use in any given situation.

With the advancements in technology from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, you'll find that Dead Rising 3 is multiple times the size of Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 combined. The game is darker and grittier than previous titles, but still retains its trademark humor. There are also smart zombies that will react to noise if they hear Nick close by, and alert other zombies to join the attack. With the Kinect sensor active, sounds made in your living room will alert zombies as well. Luckily, you can turn off the sensor if you have a loud family. In addition, you can taunt boss characters with special phrases using the Kinect microphone that will weaken them or leave them open to attack.

The zombies also act differently at night, changing how you play. To spice things up even more, there are a wide variety of zombies based on your location. You'll see high class zombies in wealthy areas (think Paris Hilton zombie look-a-like), football player zombies and other different types that add more variety to the game.

Driving is also a critical part of Dead Rising 3. There are large assortments of vehicles you can use and they react differently to the zombies. If you're in a heavier vehicle you’ll bulldoze through a horde of zombies, but a lighter car might get stuck. You'll need to learn the attributes of each vehicle on the fly.

The developers are targeting the Call of Duty crowd with the more accessible features in Dead Rising 3, but the old school feel is still intact. Classic Dead Rising fans missing the epic challenge of the previous titles in the series can look forward to a special Nightmare mode. In this mode, the game will have time limits and the zombies are more aggressive.

Last but not least, if you have a tablet there are multiple apps that will help while you play through the game. There are apps for exploration that make it easier to figure out where you are and want to go. In addition, some apps may give you the location of guns and other items. Having a tablet close-by will become a helpful tool as you play through the game.

Dead Rising 3 has something for everyone, with new features that should appeal to the more casual gamer, as well as Nightmare mode for the ? Dead Rising enthusiasts. As one of the more unique Xbox One launch titles, the game is shaping up to be a must-have when the new console arrives at retail in November.

Dead Rising 3 Has A Surreal Fight With A Psychopath Deluded By Video Games

Siliconera exclusively revealed details about Dead Rising 3 a year and a half before Microsoft unveiled the game as an Xbox One exclusive. We posted concept art of the main character, revealed he was a mechanic, and that the game takes place in Los Perdidos. We have a lot more to tell you about Dead Rising 3 from documents we received from an inside source.

Dead Rising 3 will have psychopaths to fight and most of these boss-like battles are with humans that went insane during the zombie outbreak.

One of the psychopaths is an Asian immigrant who moved to Los Perdidos dreaming of a better life. "Shifu" (that’s his codename) has been working a low paying job for a family that doesn’t respect him and his only refuge is a Zen garden that he grooms everyday. During the zombie outbreak, Shifu continues to maintain his garden and kills anyone that steps inside the temple. Of course, Nick stumbles inside and sees Shifu holding a staff and meditating over a mound of corpses. He leaves Nick alone until Nick trips on one of the garden’s rocks and knocks it out of place. Shifu fights Rick using something that looks like a Guan Dao.

Another psychopath is a female professional wrestler and bodybuilder. Nick runs into Jerry at a gym who is lifting weights and upset that her competition was canceled due to the zombie outbreak. Jerry looks more masculine than feminine and Nick thinks she is a he which ticks Jerry off. She throws weights at Nick and uses various grappling moves in battle.

Players will also fight a motorcycle gang leader (pictured). Unlike the other psychopaths, the motorcycle leader welcomes the zombie outbreak because this brought the anarchy he has always dreamed of. The biker leader has a custom motorcycle with a steamroller front wheel and various human remains attached as a war trophies.

The most interesting psychopath that we know about is a spoiled adult living off a trust fund who plays video games all day. Trent has been hiding out in his mansion completely oblivious to reality when Nick comes in to rescue him. Trent who is lying in a pool of empty chip bags and mountain dew tells Nick to blow off because he needs to finish a level first. Nick tries to reason with Trent, but he’s so deluded he talks about headshots in the game and whines about how a pizza delivery man hasn’t arrived.

Dead Rising 3 producer on Xbox One: "we've never seen anything like it before"
Also praises "natural, engaging" Kinect experience

    image_35673_thumb_wide620.jpg

Having either a sledgehammer or a skill saw to hand during a zombie apocalypse is a win. But you know you have a badass on your hands when someone makes the bold decision to stick the two together to craft an inelegant weapon for a more uncivilised age. The sledgesaw.

Jobbing Ed Norton lookalike and Dead Rising 3 executive producer Josh Bridge spoke to Xbox to shed a little light on a few of the game's finer details. He confirmed that DR3 takes place ten years after the events of Dead Rising 2, and the city of Los Perdidos is in the midst of a crisis three days after a zombie outbreak. Nick Ramos, a mechanic, must overcome a "sheer" amount of zombies to make it out of Los Perdidos alive and unbitten.

Bridge believes that players will find the Kinect integration a much more "casual experience" in DR3. Instead of having to stand up and flap your arms every time you want to use it, you can be sitting and holding the controller in your hands whilst doing a pushing motion with it to get a zombie off you. It's "a much more natural, engaging experience that fits perfectly in the core gameplay," says Bridge.

"SmartGlass is a way to have a hand in the game in a way you might not be able to do with your joystick alone," Bridge continued. "Press a button, call in some air-strikes and go boom." He also had some words of advice to give players exploring DR3's vast, open world. "You can go everywhere. You can go into stores, bust into a house. Look and you'll find more powerful items to play with and survive."

Items like the good old sledgesaw. You can take a peek at it in action in the video below.

Dead Rising 3 will tie up loose ends from the other two Dead Rising games, a source tells Siliconera. This is the same source that provided us with information to reveal details about Dead Rising 3 back in 2011, a year before Microsoft unveiled the game at E3.

Isabela Keyes a survivor from Dead Rising will return in Dead Rising 3. We briefly saw Isabela in Dead Rising 2: Case West where she has been working on a zombie cure inside Phenotrans. Isabela has been trapped inside a lab for years and she is finally freed when a zombie outbreak spreads to Los Perdidos. Isabela escapes and is searching for a missing element to the cure, blood from patient zero.

Chuck Greene from Dead Rising 2 will also make an appearance in Dead Rising 3. But, don’t expect the story to be about Chuck. Nick Ramos, a mechanic, is the main character. Diego is one of Nick’s close friends. The two characters grew up together and later Diego joined the army. However, Diego struggled during his service mainly due to something from Dead Rising 1…

That's dope. Wonder if Chuck will be playable in a multiplayer mode and also if a Frank West announcement will eventually come.

Why Dead Rising 3 Moved From Xbox 360 To Xbox One
    By Spencer . July 19, 2013 . 3:06am
Dead Rising 3 has been in development for quite some time. Siliconera first had news about the game eighteen months earlier and at that time our sources said Dead Rising 3 would be for current generation consoles. Capcom Vancouver changed directions after they pushed the Xbox 360 hardware beyond its limits.

"In terms of building the game, we originally developed it on PC and everything we were doing was breaking the bank on [Xbox] 360. The number of zombies, the streaming stuff we wanted to do, memory budgets for the number of environments and items and physics and all of that stuff. Our tech team partnered with Microsoft to get early specs and figure out how we were going to get it on new hardware," said Mike Jones, Producer at Capcom Vancouver.

"How has Dead Rising 3 changed when switching platforms," I asked. "The biggest things for us have been the size of the world, the density of the world, the streaming spaghetti of getting everything working with no load zones and seamlessly streaming. Also, how we build missions in a much larger world like that – how we send you to different districts and how we get you to explore all of these nooks and crannies in the environment," Jones answered.

"The world building tools, mission scripting tools, and the updates we had to make to our engine, a proprietary engine called the Forge engine we built at Capcom Vancouver, have been the large developer obstacles over the last few years." "Has Microsoft, as a publishing partner, assisted with the transition at all?"

"Our tech teams have been like [makes mushing noise]. They get our builds all the time and helping us optimize it and helping us with performance stuff. They visit us every week. We go down there every other week. We’ve been essentially merged together," Jones replied. "They have done custom work with multi-threading for us. All of the Kinect things, we’re making a game for hardware that isn’t finished that we’re all trying to launch together on day one. Basically, we’ve been in lock step with them."

Dead Rising 3 is an open world game and while the world isn’t as large as say a Grand Theft Auto game it is significantly larger compared to other Dead Rising titles. "Dead Rising 2and Dead Rising 1 together can fit into Dead Rising 3 multiple times over. It’s exponentially larger," Jones explained.

Jones also confirmed that Dead Rising 3 will have cameo characters from previous Dead Rising games. Siliconera announced earlier that Isabella Keyes from the original Dead Rising and Chuck Greene from Dead Rising 2 will be in Dead Rising 3.
