To me this is one of the primary differences between rappers back in the day and rappers coming out now. It just seems like they have better minds and a better foundation. Everybody knows the Wu ? were ignorant as hell at one point, but even then they clearly understood about the importance of knowledge and having a strong work ethic. It seems like today all these dudes think about is being a thug and getting ? . Even when they get past that phase of their lives (if they get past it) I doubt they'd ever be able to speak as intelligently about anything as we see Rza here or other 80s and 90s artists in other interviews. Even someone like Kanye who doesn't appear to be quite as ignorant as a lot of the rappers that are big now still sounds like an idiot more often than not in interviews.

keep in mind that rza is a genius. he did say "? the weed and ? i read books". how many rappers would attest to that? how many rappers actually have kicked knowledge from the jump? the wu was/is still ahead of the times and rza was sharp enough to recognize that early on.
ill check out the interview after work.
thnx -
Aside from having a Barbra Walters accent, a RZA interview is GOAT worthy.

Then where's my GOAT at ? ? lol

coincidently i been hunting down RZA interviews recently...i love hearing this guys wisdom.
excellent drop @The Lonious Monk -
I told ya. I'm a nerd when it comes to rap interviews, especially like these.
RZA, KRS, Chuck D, Ice T, 2pac, Talib, Bizzy Bone, Scarface, De La Soul and a few others are always great to watch. -
I didn't know The Cure was gonna be his last album. I got a mixtape of his called The Formula of the Cure, which was supposed to be a precursor to The Cure. I was waiting for that album forever.

Yeah, that's the one part of the album I didn't like. You don't have to be living perfectly to drop some knowledge. If he feels like it's a positive message the world needs to hear, he's only doing everyone a disservice by not dropping it.
