Ono rules out Asura & Bad Box Art Mega Man as fifth Street Fighter 4 character, talking with EVO players about game balance
Capcom will be making an official announcement later in the year as to who the 5th character is that's joining the Street Fighter 4 franchise. Yesterday, Capcom announced that Rolento, Elena, Hugo and Poison would be added to the lineup, but they said there's one more who's never been playable in a Street Fighter game before.
Today, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono ruled out two candidates, Asura from Asura's Wrath and Bad Box Art Mega Man, who was a PS3 exclusive character in Street Fighter X Tekken.
Ono also said he's been enjoying talking to players at EVO about the balance of games like SSF4 AE v2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Yoshinori Ono ✔ @Yoshi_OnoChin

This is hilarious.

I've stopped regularly playing fighters because I don't have the time to dedicate myself to them on the level I should anymore. So I never checked out any version of SF 4 before. Might go a couple of rounds with this one just to see how the "ultimate vision" of the game is.

I would never. These people do nothing but master these games in their free time. Like I used to do when I was a kid at the arcades back in the day lol
It's more for me to play through the single player with some select characters and play against people I know in real life for money and ? like that. I can't be as dedicated to fighters as I once was but I could still casually enjoy them every now and again that way.

Pretty disappointed that they're sfxt rehashes, but can't say its much of a suprise. I like the new font for the logo though. Who do you think the new character gonna be

5th Ultra Street Fighter 4 character will be making their fighting game debut
Capcom unveiled quite a bit of information on their big project, Ultra Street Fighter 4, this past weekend at EVO 2013. Along with the name, some balance changes and pricing info, we found out that 5 new characters would be added to the playable roster.
Hugo, Rolento, Poison and Elena will all be included in the update scheduled to drop next year, but Capcom also revealed that we'll be seeing a 5th fighter that is still to be announced. It is said that this fighter has never appeared in a Street Fighter title before.
In an interview with the Jace Hall show, Capcom's Matt Dahlgren discussed some of the previously known details about Ultra Street Fighter 4 but also dropped another interesting bit of info regarding the 5th character. According to Dahlgren, not only has this character never been in a Street Fighter game, but USF4 will also be their fighting game debut.
Ultra Street Fighter IV will bring 4 familiar characters into the mix including Rolento, Elena, Poison and Hugo who originated from the Final Fight series along with a currently unknown fifth. Capcom is keeping quiet about who the last character will be at this point. Dahlgren tells us not only has “this character…never been featured in a Street Fighter game up until now” but that this “will be the first time he (or she) makes their fighting game debut.”
Many have been speculating that the new fighter added to USF4 would be Haggar from Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Considering this new character has never been in a fighting game before, that more than likely rules out the mayor of Earth. -
Ono: I don't have the R&D budget and staff to work on Street Fighter 5 for next generation consoles currently
Making a statement that could very well change by the time Ultra Street Fighter 4 is released in early 2014, Capcom's Yoshinori Ono said that he currently doesn't have the research and development budget and staff to work on Street Fighter 5 for the next generation consoles.
Scheduled for release in late 2013, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will hit consumers hands, but it looks like they'll be doing so without a new Street Fighter entry from Capcom. Capcom's Rey Jimenez recently commented that, "We are still very early in development of the initial content," in regards to Ultra Street Fighter 4, so it appears that the Street Fighter team will be occupied for a bit of time, before they're free to work on another title.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were launched in 2005 and 2006, respectively, but Street Fighter 4 wasn't actually released until early 2009, although it saw an arcade version in mid-2008. If Street Fighter 5 follows suit, we may have a bit of a wait in front of us before we see a direct sequel on the next generation consoles.
Yoshinori Ono ✔ @Yoshi_OnoChin
I don't have R&D budget and staff who they're just only make USF4.RT @MC_Odd: @warmlettuce Are you secretly working on a SF V for next gen? -
^^^? hes just keeping it under wraps..streetfighter 4 made mad money..even super street fighter 4 did good...capcom knows that fighting games can sell..but if they keep releasing new versions they gonna hurt themselves..when street fighter 5 comes out whos gonna buy it when they know a better version will come out in 9 months for a cheaper price
-
I used to be cold in fighting games...before I had a life
-
Smh...them idiots at EVO boo Killer Instinct but then are cool with this?
They weren't booing Killer Instinct, they were booing M$, and even then it could be said they were booing "exclusivity" in general, not M$.
They cheered for Chief Thunder and all the impressions from the FGC are positive.
