"But what's it all worth, can't take it witchu you under this Earth
Rich men died and tried, but none of it worked
They just rob your grave, I'd rather be alive and paid
Before my number's called, history's made
Some'll fall, but I rise, thug or die
Makin choices, that determine my future under the sky
To rob steal or ? , I'm wondering why
It's a ? game, is any man worthy of fame?
Much to success to ya, even if you wish me the opposite
Sooner or later we'll all see who the prophet is"
I've always loved this ? . A top 10 Nas track IMO. Was listening to "I Am..." this morning and just felt like bumping this joint over & over.

This the song that made me a Nas fan. "Babies being born same time my man is murdered the beginning and end"
-
First verse has some of the most powerful opening lines in any song, ever.
-
and to think he was writing this during the illmatic era
-
"Like Greeks in Egypt learning somethin deep from their teachers"
^^^^ That's the kinda line that goes over most people's heads. I remember that came out around the same time as "Holla Holla" by Ja Rule. "Holla Holla" was the club anthem, but the lyrics on "Nas is Like" were 1000X iller. -
Dope track!
-
im sorry to butt in, but does anyone have that good version od Az- Do or Die, i jus cant find it, its a different beat from the original, real new york feel
-
Some undeniable gems dropped in that song! Real talk!

Was bumping this earlier because of this thread, then listened to a couple Nas songs I haven't listened to in a while (big girl, kissing, you won't see me tonight) I don't give a ? if the majority of his fan base don't want to hear him rapping about ? , he was doing that better than most too

I cried then and about to cry now when this video was on the rap city top 10 countdown in the spring of 1999. this video debuted as a non slot hot pick the first week of march 1999. i thought this song was the perfect rap ever it brought tears to my eyes the first time i watched this video non stop that weekend emulating all of nas moves in the video especially when he was in the studio with that qb chain. i knew this song was special. it touched my soul. its them horns. its that epic 1st verse. i used to be so hyped to wake up in the morning for school just to get dressed watching that video. yall ? dont know about this nas is like ? . that following week i was kicking at my cousin house for spring break smoking about 15 deep with some east austin ? and hoes watching rap city and this song shot to #1 out the gate. i broke down crying in front of all them ? when they introduced it "as the number 1 video in the country" and i seen that #1 graphic in the corner. i got this weird breeze in my heart and for that moment at least hip hop was more important than life, gold and ? . yall new ? will never have this artform touch your emotions like that. you think tom ford could make a ? cry tears? ? that ?

The first 3 albums from Nas were flawless from a lyrical standpoint.
