Games With Gold, August 2013: Play Crackdown and Dead Rising 2 for Free

Now we're getting somewhere.

Crackdown kicks off August's Games With Gold promotion this month, and will be free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers from August 1-15. Crackdown's open world, super-hero-esque powers, and alluring collectibles made it one of the most interesting and entertaining surprises on Xbox 360 when it released in 2007.

On August 16, both Dead Rising 2 and its downloadable prequel episode, Case Zero, will be free for Gold members. Case Zero only lasts a few hours, but it's a great little story setup and introduction to the main game's excellent crafting system, impressive open world, and absurd sense of humor.

Remember, you only need to initiate the download to add these games to your library forever, so even if you're not going to play them right away, it can't hurt to grab them for later.

Dr2 Imma cop that . But I still got my crackdown disc ... they shoulda made the second one free.. the first is dirt old

Crackdown got boring and part2 was just as much of a snooze fest mght ? with dr2 tho

The first one is the better game by leaps and bounds, and it kinda counteracted the fact that it got repetitive by being only like 4-5 hours long. Crackdown 2, however, Was longer and the same "activate this beacon to activate this thing here then protect the thing from the zombies" ? OVER AND OVER AND OOOOVER again. At least part 1 let you take the gamgs down however you wanted in whichever order, and taking down whatever boss was in charge of a specific gang activity actually had an effect on how easy or hard they were.
