Bruce Wayne did ? Joe Chill? Lets say he kills Joe Chill in secret, it becomes an unsolved murder. Eventually a cold case. Batman begins to feel remorse and guilt over the murder. And that motivates him to be the dark knight. He is trying to make up for that murder, to prove to himself he is not one of the criminals. But he never can get rid of that guilt.
