Man suffers 3rd gunshot
NIAGARA FALLS — A Niagara Falls man was the victim of a gunshot wound Sunday for the third time in less than a year, police report.
Willie M. McTyere, 28, of Whirlpool Street, was treated and released from Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, after he was shot in the shoulder just before noon, according to Niagara Falls Police Lt. Michael Trane. On two previous occasions, he was shot in the head and survived.
McTyere told police that he and a friend were sitting in their car “and had swung by to visit his girlfriend’s grandmother’s house” in the 1600 block of Weston Avenue when a man pointed a pistol at them, firing from the south side of the street. Two of the three shots entered the vehicle’s windshield and one hit McTyere in the right shoulder.
Trane said this is the third time McTyere has been shot this year and all of the shootings have involved shots fired at a vehicle. In each case, McTyere said he was “just minding his own business.”
“I think he is using up his nine lives,” said Detective John Conti.
