Community = Train track being built by Metro out here going to the beach. So thats cool.
City = Our Mayor getting in trouble for going to Laker games free when he's supposed to pay but thats about it
State = Arnold approval rating are at Gray Davis (our previous governor) level and we still broke.

state: hoping that a dead ? appears in Chris Christie's front door. -
they put a casino in my city last year. it was supposed to have a huge hotel and a mall with 150+ stores. sadly the economy tanked just after the casino was built. so thats been running for almost 2 years. apparently they're re-starting construction on the hotel and mall that are supposed to be there too, but moneys tight and its slow. it was kind of a big deal when it opened, all the religious people didn't want it, but a lot of people did. it has brought a good amount of money to the city, not nearly as much as expected given that the hotel and mall didnt open yet. but it also created about 1200 jobs so far, which is more than some other cities can say right now. table games are legal in a few weeks and then we expect them to do a lot more business.

Sad part is, if you ever stayed in Pittsburgh during this time period, you would see how true this statement is. -

Dorothea Dix Hospital (currently a mental institution) is going to close soon. They are in the process of relocating patients and determining use for the land. The will most likely make it a destination park on some Central Park type ish. The NC Highway Patrol is undergoing restructuring since cases of misconduct have came up. The inappropriate conduct includes cases of profiling, driving ? , animal abuse (???? wtf...lol), and sex on duty. The commander just resigned.

LMAO!!
I personally don't even think Ive EVER seen a governor receive as much hate as Paterson has received, they REALLY REALLY REALLY hate this guy. The hate is not deserved, he even personally said that he had never planned on being governor, the job was thrown in his lap he didn't know what to do.
As far as the budget crisis, white people across the state are blaming welfare (rolls eyes) but I think it had something to do with all the corruption on Wall Street. -

You're from Cali? Aren't they getting ready to legalize Marijuana alltogether out there? -
Our mayor called his opponent a "melba toast" (meant milquetoast) and claimed that the camel was "designed by consensus."
Jimmy Cliff had a concert. -

No, not if the youth and liberals dont show up to the polls.
Right now the polling is 52% AGAINST and 48% for legalization. -

Full legalization comes up for a vote in CO in 2012. We'll see what's up. Of all the "weed states" we got ours in with an amendment to the state constitution, allowing a for-profit business model to emerge.
My understanding is that there's broad support, given the budget crunch and all. It's really the only issue state Republicans and state Democrats agree upon. -

Damn, that's close.
