If anything, 50 kept NY alive a little longer because it was nothing but old ? he was beefing with. All the new dudes around that time fell the ? off or never even knew what on was.. After DMX cracked out, who was there other then 50? It didn't throw Jigga or Nas off. D-block had a few hits but they weren't very consistent. Fat Joe was already Written off after Pun died. Well there was lean back but that was it. Jah Rule rat face ass was going pop and his team took him down cuz of the conspiracy charges. Who else was there really? Papoose? Uncle Murder? Jin? Sonic the Hedgehog?

Jay-z was "retired" from 2003-2006 so he wasn't really there during 50 cent Dismantling of New York City.

Who did he dismantle exactly other then ? 's that were already on their way out and been corny like Jah singing ass.. The Black Album cxame out late 2003. He was still riding off that in 2004. Bottom line, his career didn't suffer even after a break so that takes even more credit away from the 50 killed it theory.. He also did something with R-Kelly and Linkin Park..

cant argue with anything they said. as the age old saying goes, art imitates reality. ny has been gentrified like crazy. hipsters, ? , and skinny jean wearing ? have now taken over the city. so its only natural that the music that's being made there would reflect that. ny no longer has any idenity. and neither does their music

Some ? you don't want/need to hear from a ? in an elementary school: "Child safety ain't what it used to be."

Some ? you don't want/need to hear from Trinidad James on a stage in BK: "New York Hip Hop ain't what it used to be."

This right here ....there was no one And Jays retirement didn't even feel like one he was still active in the music scene. NY did it to themselves with their isolation.

At least 50 didn't sound like he smoked for the last 50 years doing it.. 50 sung hooks yes but we talking about this guy doing ballads with Ashanti. Still we talking about what killed Jah and it really wasn't 50. It was his team coming under investigation and Murder Inc falling apart. They even tried to distance themselves by renaming the label The INC.
