UM...why was her hand in her pocket? I never understood it.
And yes, I love Alanis Moressette. Her Lyricism/Song writing ability >>>> your favorite song writer.

i love this song...but i have no clue what shes talking bout.
is she consoling someone who was just cheated on and saying its just the way life is?
like, i dont understand
Here's the day you hoped would never come
Don’t feed me violence, just run with me
Through rows of speeding cars
The paper cuts, the cheating lovers
The coffee’s never strong enough
I know you think it’s more than just bad luck
There, there, baby
It’s just text book stuff
It’s in the ABC of growing up
Now, now, darlin’
Oh don’t lose your head
'Cause none of us were angels
And you know I love you, yeah
Sleeping pills, no sleeping dogs lie never
Far enough away
Glistening in the cold sweat of guilt
I’ve watched you slowly winding down for years
You can’t keep on like this
Now is as bad of time as any
There, there, baby
It’s just text book stuff
It’s in the ABC of growing up
Now, now, darlin’
Oh don’t ? yourself
'Cause none of us were angels
And you know I love you, yeah
It’s okay by me
It’s okay by me
It’s okay by me
It was a long time ago
It’s okay by me
It’s okay by me
It’s okay by me
It was a long time ago
There, there, baby
It’s just text book stuff
It’s in the ABC of growing up
Now, now, darlin’
Oh don’t lose your head
'Cause none of us were angels
And you know I love you, yeah
There, there, baby
It’s just text book stuff
It’s in the ABC of growing up
Now, now, darlin’
Oh, don’t ? yourself
'Cause none of us were angels
And you know I love you, yeah -
also this one, is it about like a wife who died. now the father has to take over lookign after the kids?
Pray ? you can cope.
I stand outside this woman's work,
This woman's world.
Ooh, it's hard on the man,
Now his part is over.
Now starts the craft of the father.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things I should've said,
That I never said.
All the things we should've done,
Though we never did.
All the things I should've given,
But I didn't.
Oh, darling, make it go,
Make it go away.
Give me these moments back.
Give them back to me.
Give me that little kiss.
Give me your hand.
(I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.)
I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things we should've said,
That we never said.
All the things we should've done,
Though we never did.
All the things that you needed from me.
All the things that you wanted for me.
All the things that I should've given,
But I didn't.
Oh, darling, make it go away.
Just make it go away now. -

From the Jon B song are you still down:
"Remember that evening
I knew that you were too scared
To go all the way
But you did it to please me
You were crying it was raining
When u gave it to me"
Don't this sound like he force the girl to give it up to him? -
I found an answer on my own. No thanks to u nigras...Alanis is referring to this concept of duality. We are never just one singular thing, but that we encompass all emotions and attitudes at all points in life. She juxtaposes this with the concept of a hand in pocket (inactive and disengaged) while the other hand remains active and engaged with the world. The ultimate conclusion she makes is that regardless of the contradicting emotions and actions we make and tell, the world is full of everything good and bad, engaged and disengaged.

Damn, that song is actually a whole lot sadder than I ever thought it was. I've never read the lyrics, just sung along falsetto style in the car wit' Maxwell. I never want to hear this song if my wife passes. I'd probably fcukin' die myself!
