While appearing on The Combat Jack Show this week, Houston rapper Scarface shared the details of a conspiracy theory he feels directly involves today’s Hip Hop. According to the Geto Boys emcee, today’s music, particularly Hip Hop, is being dumbed down by those with power.
“I be looking at ? like a conspiracy…That’s the way I feel about music, man,” Scarface said. “You know what I mean? I feel like the powers that be are intentionally dumbing down our craft, man. I feel like they dumbing us down. Because the dumbest ? I ever heard is on the radio right now.”
He further elaborated on his conspiracy theory as he commented on “urban Hip Hop” versus “suburban Hip Hop,” and spoke on how “dumb” Hip Hop has become. Scarface later suggested that the powers that be are dumbing down the genre because it was becoming too great.
“To paint the picture that I’m trying to paint to you guys is it seems like all our ? is sounding really stupid and really, really dumb. Really, really corny,” the Texas rapper said. “And then, you know, you got the other ? that sounds really, really [great]…I wanna say this ? as diplomatic and as responsible as I can…When urban Hip Hop sounds like this and suburban Hip Hop sounds like that, I kinda feel ? up. You know? It’s like our ? ? up and the powers that be pour salt on the wound…I don’t even look at it as a threat or it being too ? powerful. I just look it as being too ? great.”
Scarface made similar comments earlier this year during an interview with Hardknock TV when he informed those watching that the people in control of Hip Hop are white and Jewish.
"I feel like we losing it," he said. "I feel like the people that are in control of what Hip Hop does is so ? White and so ? Jewish and so they don't give a ? about what the culture and the craft really is about."

Why does the article act as if this is recent? Scarface was on Combat Jack - the Complex version - months & months ago. Im talking maybe September-October.

This is not new, though. For over fifteen years, the diminishing importance of Black people on the executive, A&R, label head, etc. has taken place. This is just reaching the pinnacle.
People talk about the internet, but because the profit margins in the recording industry is bleeding, it is really stamping out a lot of minority voice in mainstream music (creatively and in the corporate world).
Some that miss the point think this is stating the flood of white artists. Nope. Quite the contrary. There will always be black artists in hip-hop, it is just who is picked to be put on is what changes, and remember..there is always someone willing to ? for $$$, however fleeting the dollars may be.
For example, look at conscious rap. True conscious rap is more black-friendly than ever. Remember when conscious rap got co-op'd in the 90s and was a college radio/white yuppy type of sound and fanbase?
Now..Lupe making street records again is easier to relate to than these kingpin duck tales that gets spin. Conscious rappers have been speaking on all of the ? that Macklemore got buzz on, but these white rappers are being promoted as counter programming to the "popcorn" gangsta fantasy rap. White folks view all of this hip-hop ? as entertainment, so once they tired of buying the fantasy of being some hot coke dealer moving weight in D.C., pushing weight in a Lexus..now they want to cornily put down consumerism and materialistic values because they pop tags at a thrift shop. FOH. -

What happened? -
white people destroy every culture they touch

I agree with him though for the most part. I don't know if it's the suits to the artist the fans a combination of the three or all of the three but the craft is becoming dumber for the most part and of course there are exceptions.

was trying to find it on Youtube unfortunately you have to go through Hiphopdx's flash player but the host was telling Face about a running argument he had with his father in law who was a music writer and had grown up when Rock n Roll was Co-opted from us. They kept arguing on whether Eminem was dope musically and the father in law told the host he was not and gave vague reasons why he was not this ran up till his deathbed when he relented and said yes he was good musically but he was prepping dude for the time when the Masses Labeled Eminem the King of HipHop like they did with Elvis and Rock. Brad's Eyes got even bigger and he was looking like he just came to an epiphany on the ? . It was priceless take a sec and watch the video it was odd to say the least but very entertaining... -

it is a combination of all three but mostly on the fans because they continue to accept and support the ? . but to be fair, they dont know anything else because thats all thats been shoved down their throats for the past decade. -
But just as long as the beat is hot, the hook is catchy, and it makes ? shake their ? . Nothing else matters. Hip hop is still recovering from the damage the ringtone era did to hip hop in the mid to late 2000's.

Of course it is, more money to be made if everybody gets it

I get annoyed with the tone of helplessness when these statements are made by artists and people who have enough pull to put others on. But if I ask "why not" I guess I'll get the
