Now, it seems there is a chance Shuttlesworth might be coming soon to a theater near you. Per the Associated Press (via ESPN), "[Allen] and filmmaker Spike Lee have spent time over the last couple months discussing a sequel."
In case you haven't seen it, He Got Game is the story of Jake Shuttlesworth (played by legendary actor Denzel Washington), a prison inmate who is offered early release by the governor. The only condition: Jake must convince his son, Jesus, a star high school basketball player, to attend the governor's alma mater. Allen beat out Tracy McGrady and Allen Iverson for the role of Jesus, according to the film website This Distracted Globe.
What will become of Jesus in the sequel? Per the Associated Press, Lee and Allen have been "throwing ideas back and forth" and would like Washington and actress Rosario Dawson (Jesus' girlfriend) to reprise their roles from the previous film.
It might come as a surprise to some fans that Allen and Lee still have a good working relationship. Lee is without a doubt the most famous die-hard Knicks fan on the planet, and since the movie came out, Allen crushed the dreams of his Knicks on multiple occasions while playing for the rival Boston Celtics.
Will it work out? Washington can get any film role he wants at this point, and Allen is pretty busy at the moment, helping the Heat defend their title. Spike Lee might have to bide his time.

put Steph Curry in it as Ray's son

Seeing Ray Allen act in HGG is one of the most painful things I've ever heard. Replace Allen with literally anyone else that can act and it's a 4-5 star movie
-
Leave that ? alone
-
Apparently after Kobe passed on the part Ray beat out A.I. and McGrady for the role.

yea I read an interview, where Kobe said he passed on the role to work on his game cuz the upcoming season at that time was very important to him

Umm ok

Hmm, interesting.

About what...?
-
Why?

Dont think it would work. And to bring lala back after what she did to jesus would just be wack.
-
I guess it would be more about retirement and having a better relationship with his father.....
Will Denzel be in it? -
what's up with all these out dated sequels?....saw a flyer for ATL2 a couple days ago
either strike while the iron is hot or leave that ? alone.....Kevin Hart should ? around and do Soul Plane 2 just for the hell of it lol -

1) It already is a 5 star movie
2) I disagree. For what was needed, he held it down. He played a laid back, 'act like he 2 good to speak', entitled type recruit. Thats how them nggas are in real life. -
And tht scene in the park where he's hoopin...from a basketball player pov that ? is legend.
Only a dude as smooth as Ray Allen could make that ? look so fukin poetic. -

Ray can't act for ? , but the first one was the ? ... -
I had no problem with ray's acting.
He acted like a teenage hoop star wit no media training -
It's an interesting concept but without any idea of where they would be going with the story I can't say whether I wanna see it or not. I love the first one though, classic ish.
Denzel really helped move the story the first time without him involved I'm hesitant to see a sequel, it would mean that Allen's acting would have to be stronger than it was all those years ago and I'm not sure it is.
Also the soundtrack was GOAT -
Yo that last game at the end between father n son. I get chills everytime nh. When hes like " i learned that from you". "Yes you did son".

I honestly think a lot of sequels these days are way too forced and end up being horrible movies. A sequel for the sake of a sequel because the iron is still hot isn't always the best way to do it. -
But watch them do some dumb ? and have Jesus go to jail and have to play pops in a game then someone ends up stabbed. ? could end up worse than
-
Movie begins with basketball bouncing from a court inside an enclosed gym and lands on an outdoor prison basketball court....... or nah?

I remember reading that Ray was supposed to beat Denzel 12-0 or whatever but Denzel ended up playing for real and ended up scoring so they just went with it.
I like it better that way made it more organic
