Michael Bay walks off stage during Samsung Presentation

A demonstration of Samsung's new television equipment at the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show went awry when Transformers director Michael Bay's autocue failed.
The Hollywood millionaire initially said he would "wing it." But when asked what he thought about the new set, Mr Bay found himself speechless, apologised and walked off stage leaving a stunned audience.

SMH no confidence at all. Lol @ him sounding like an athlete when reporters ask them an in depth question.
He needs to take a couple of public speaking classes, or at least have an outline or idea of what he wants to say before he goes on stage.

why would he bring notes when there's a prompter? that's like bringing a knife to a gun fight in case your gun jams. -

Any speech class worth it's salt teaches you that the most important form of speech giving is the extemporaneous method. This is why there have been great speeches delivered despite a technical mishap with teleprompters. The people who gave those speeches were saavy enough to keep some bullet points and have a general understanding of their topic in case they had to improvise. Michael Bay just seems like an amateur and considering that he's been in show business since the early 80's he should be enough of a pro to understand that. I doubt they'll ask him to speak at any future presentations now thanks to his awkward moment.

How does being good at speeches tie in to what he does tho? Don't see what the fuss is about. There's rappers and singers that forget their own lyrics. Get off his sack.

How does public speaking NOT tie into what he does? he works in show business. He has to constantly promote his movies on the PR circuit and at conventions. He regularly speaks at awards shows and industry events such as this one. It's not like he's a french speaking guy talking japanese for the first time or something.
He should be able to sell water to a well at this point and convince anybody that the sky isn't blue if he wants. He's had the experiences. This is what makes all this much more hilarious and why the entire internet is clowning him. If you're not going to at least be on top of your ? then promptly turn down the money they're offering you to speak then. You don't say you're going to "wing it" unless you know wtf you're talking about. -

if you've ever done a presentation of any sort then it's standard to always have a backup plan(notes,whatever) ready just in case something ? up,that's just basic prep.
if you can get away with 'winging' it then cool.it's not like he was really bring challenged on some major intellectual level either,really a man in his position should have enough knowledge to be able to breeze through these things. -

You're an idiot and completely in your feelings about something else. This has nothing to do with him as a director or whether people will go or not go see his movies, it's about him as a public speaker. You're the one who asked in the first place I was simply answering your questions.
