Chadwick Boseman has booked a role in Alex Proyas’ period epic “Gods Of Egypt,” which Summit Entertainment will release on Feb. 12, 2016.
The “42″ star, has signed up to play Thoth, the ? of wisdom, moon and other things. He was the inventor of writing who announced and wrote down the judgments of the dead. Thoth is often depicted as a man with the head of an ibis, or a baboon.
Boseman joins Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, and Courtney Eaton. The action-adventure pic was co-penned by Proyas, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
The film is based on ancient Egyptian mythology, but judging by the casting, it’s safe to expect all kinds of liberties will be taken with the real stories.
The synopsis for “Gods Of Egypt” reads:
“Magic, monsters, gods, and madness reign throughout the palaces and pyramids of the lush Nile River Valley in this sweeping action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt. With the survival of mankind hanging in the balance, an unexpected hero undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless ? of darkness, has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. With only a handful of heroic rebels opposing Set’s savage rule, Bek (Brenton Thwaites), a bold and defiant mortal, enlists the aid of the powerful ? Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against the evil overlord. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both ? and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the spectacular final confrontation.”
Chadwick Boseman can next be seen in the James Brown biopic, “Get On Up,” where he plays the Godfather of Soul. He also will appear in “Draft Day,” which also stars Kevin Costner.

? doesn't make any sense. If they wanted to make a movie about a pantheon of white gods, why not go with Greek or Norse Mythology?

Because they still believe the Egyptians were white or ? middle eastern whatever that ? means and were in no shape or form were black even though the pictures, the monuments, the DNA or describing they come from the very end of the nile which is the mountains of the moon which borders The Congo Republic and Rwanda. There were no ? white people 7000 years ago and they think everyone looked like them. Insanity at it's best.

The crazy thing is that really isn't true. You ever watched any History channel coverage of Egypt? Everyone on those are black and brown. It really did seem that white media was ready to give in an accept that they couldn't portray them as white anymore, and now this...
